I took the covers off my leather dining room chairs only to find two chairs well scratched by my cats. It seems that covers don't do a great job protecting from cats and their back claws as they climb up the chair to perch on top of the chair back.

A little Google magic and I came up with two solutions. One frequent solution offered was olive oil. Not sure where that would work but it did nothing for me.

The other solution was shoe polish. BINGO! Worked wonderfully. Rub it in as you would polish a chair and scrub off the excess and a perfect repair.

Any other solutions out there? And don't tell me to get rid of the cats...

Figure out which cat did it and lock the cat up as a deterrent to other cats.

I had a suede chair destroyed by one of our cats....I hated the chair anyway though....

I've already recovered those chairs to the tune of several hundreds of dinaros (including the covers).

recover the chairs in an exotic leather.. something the cats would not touch because of the smell.. like say..cat leather!

All of my furniture was purchased from a taxiderist. I have a a couch shaped like a bear, a love seat that was formerly a sheep and 2 kitchen lab chairs.

Oh, and a persian foot stool.
