I think he was threatening to quit, but realized where the money was at....hint, not in a solo career.

Yeah...but I thought they interviewed one of the other bandmates after the "fall", and he said they were tired of the crap out of Tyler and were going to continue on without him?

The presale has been on for almost two days now and they are still selling the same seats on the floor. In other words, this show is selling not very well, so far.

I don't know if the addition of Joan Jett and the Blackhearts will make much difference.

I have always liked Aerosmith and go to most major concerts that come to Winnipeg, I will probably go to this, but I am wondering if people are getting tired of the prices for these shows? Perhaps that's why it's a slow seller

Great show. Exceeded my expectations. And Tyler did not fall off the stage.

At the end, when they were saying their goodbyes and introducing the band members, Perry introduced Tyler last and said that he could not be replaced, then hug hug.

Rosen, did you see the guy playing keyboards and signing back up vocals for Joan Jett? He looked liked someone's grandpa, very ordinary, non-rock star-like!

I am wondering if the quality of a show is proportional to the number of trucks waiting around the MTS Center on show day. There sure were a lot yesterday.

Did they do the $5 blitz at the end of ticketsales? Or has that been banned now due to the lawsuit?

What lawsuit?

Eye don't think there was a "$5" blitz as a co-worker went to the show at the last minute and paid full price.

On CJOB they were talking about people pissed about the $5 tickets being sold for the concert they attended (AC/DC?)

Anyway...it was announced then that a class-action lawsuit was being filed against Ticketmaster for having some kind of varied pricing structure with a demand to refund ticket sales to those who paid full-price down to the $5 ticket price others were charged.

I know alot of tickets were given away by newspapers, radio stations etc. I know 7 people who went and not one of them paid.

The $5.00 tickets that AGEsAces is referring to is a promotion through ticketmaster and you need a code in order to buy the cheap tix and it is usually offered a few days before the show.

They gave away a lot of tickets as this was not a hot selling show and they didn't want a ton of empty seats. Although, I did see lots of empty seats.

see...i don't think there would have been an issue about giving seats away...that's more of a "prize draw" than a "sale".

I think their issue was that they paid full-price (and what most people feel is inflated pricing anyway) for tickets that were being sold for $5.00.

Many of the $5.00 tickets went for floor seats...which would normally be nearly double the "cheap" seats cost at regular prices.

Didn;t the $5 tickets go only right at the end?

Its something you take your chance with. Sometimes you get screwed and get no deal, sometimes you are lucky.

just like a place trying to dump stock.

day 1. 5% off
day 8 15% off
day 15 50% off
Day 22 90% off

but by day 22 will there be anything left? Maybe.. maybe not you take your chances.

Agreed totally!

I think Lillith Fair (now called Lillith) also had super-cheap tix at the last moment, which upset those who bought tix early at the regular price. I'd be upset, too!

why? Its a chance you take.. that simple.

From a business standpoint it makes total sense. Sell tickets for damn near nothing and not only does it look busy, but you will probably get concession sales too.

Or sit there with empty seats and make nothing

Here's why. If I knew in advance that they might sell tickets for cheap near showtime, I might wait until then to buy them.

exactly.. or you might get screwed and not get any.

But dean...the problem is not that they sold the tickets for $5, it's that they sold tickets for $5 for seats that should have been much more expensive.

HAD they upgraded anyone in the nose-bleed seats up to the floor (if they wanted) at no cost, and stuck all the $5 tickets up in the nose-bleeds...i don't think there would be that much of an outcry.

Or had they done the incremental sales, perhaps it wouldn't be so bad.

But a friend of my boss went and sat 3rd row centre...on a $5 ticket.

Now if I was the guy next to him with a $200 ticket I bought...I'd be pretty pissed off.

Yet, had the guy "won" it through a draw or contest...I'd probably congratulate him on his luck.

The $5 tickets are "seat fillers" (same as they use at Awards Shows)...but they should be incremented to the value of the ticket.

With the computer technology in use today...it would have been just as easy to upgrade existing tickets in less-than-desirable seats...and inform the people as they are scanned in at the door...even print off a new seat-ticket right at the door as they get scanned...directing them to their new seat. Kind of an upgrade promotion.

Heck...personally I think ALL venues should do that for shows anyway.
I guess the only drawback would be if two groups of friends came together and one group got upgraded and the other didn't...but they could/should have an option of refusing (a single button push on the scanner) the upgrade...and it would get randomly assigned to another ticket group.

If I knew at the outset that there would be a chance to get some free tix, I wouldn't care one way or the other if I couldn't score any. If I was a big fan, I'd have to buy them early on.
