Since when?

And is it illegal here?

If I wanted to get a 1/2 dozen tickets to a Bombers' game and hold up a big banner advertising my website (or maybe a sandbox)...why should that be a problem?

Seems like a pretty good thing to do.

The franchise still gets tickets sold, people are ACTUALLY in the stands. Odds are those who attend will enjoy the game(s) and buy merchandise or products or concessions...so nobody REALLY loses anything.

So...more on this story...I still don't get the issue...seems like South Africa has more to worry about than some beer company that doesn't even sell beer in their country.

It seems the beer company was trying to circumvent sponsorship costs by just buying tickets.

It's don't work that way.

Actually it works very well. That's why they're doing it. Well, trying to do it anyway.

But look at all the attention they are getting now!

How crazy. When an event is young or for whatever reason doesn't draw the crowds that they seek - they give tickets away. And when they're big - people can be charged for taking advantage of the event. I wonder if that guy in the crowd who wore a rainbow wig and a John 3:16 t-shirt and always seeking out the cameras at the televised PGA golf events in the 80's was ever charged with this crime? I doubt it. Can the law discriminate like this? God versus beer?

It's all about the sponsorship money...and business is business, even in sports.

In that country, it is illegal. Perhaps it was prevalent with civil litigation only being available and they decided to make it a criminal offence. It is a theft of value afterall.

speaking of Ambush marketing.

Shouldn't all those people who are blowing those Vensdfsfsartsadfs be kicked out and charged with Ambush Marketing? I checked and the maker/dealer of them does NOT have a deal with FIFA. AND it can clearly be seen that his sales have increased by an insane amount since people started using them in the stands.
