Nah. I'm not much for going to concerts. But the venue is intriguing. I expect the Neil Young fans will enjoy the concert immensely.

The acoustics are spot-on......that would be a show well-worth attending.

I've never seen him solo acoustic.

Sold out the Concert Hall in 4 minutes. I was lucky enough to get in the second row.

About fifteen minutes after the first show went on sale, the second show went on sale and no one seems to know about it since it's not selling as quickly.

After tickets went on sale this morning for Neil Young's July 26 concert in Winnipeg, a second show has been added.

Ticketmaster is selling tickets to a July 27 concert at the Centennial Concert Hall.

The former Winnipegger is playing an intimate solo gig on his Twisted Road Tour across North America. Tickets are $65.50, $98.50, $135.50 and $249.50 at Ticketmaster.

Young, 64, is on the theatre circuit playing acoustic and electric guitars, harmonica, piano, keyboard and pump organ. His sets include a mixture of old songs and new unreleased material from his forthcoming album.

This will be Young's third visit to the city in five years. He played the MTS Centre in October 2008 with a six-piece band and appeared at the same venue in 2006 as part of Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young. He played a solo folk show at the concert hall in 1972.

British singer-songwriter Bert Jansch is opening for Young on all Twisted Road dates. The former member of folk-rock group Pentangle has been cited by Young as a major influence. Winnipeg Free Press - ONLINE EDITION

Personally, I too, cannot handle his falsetto voice, but that's just me.

It seems Winnipeggers like the old acts. meh....whatever.

That's natural. People have always differed in musical tastes. That explains why we have such a hugely diverse range of music.

I personally don't care for Bob Dylan's music but my brother-in-law thinks he's the cat's ass. I can tolerate classical in small doses. Hate jazz. Love most classic rock.

Heh...without a printed copy, no one would ever be able to tell what the words really are to Dylan's ballads..

I truly do not understand this Neil Young fan thing. His music and voice make me feel sick (seriously). I'm left to wonder what it is I'm not appreciating. I've been wondering that for years.

It's all about personal taste.

Neil Young is considered by many to be the biggest, most respected, most uncompromising, longest running rock star in the world. There are bigger rock stars but they're as respected. Dylan is also fairly uncompromising and very respected as a songwriter but he isn't as big a draw. MCCartney is great live but has long stopped making great music.

If there's someone else currently alive, who tops Neil Young using the criteria I mentioned, I'd liked to hear about him or her.

Well - I would say Dylan. I can't believe they're even in the same league. While I'm at it - I don't get the Leonard Cohen thing either.

Leonard Cohen is a distinctive artist. When you hear him sing, you know it's him right away. And he's a well-known songwriter. There's often crossover between Dylan and Cohen fans.

Speaking of Canadian musicians - the singer from Blood, Sweat and Tears was on CJOB the other day. I didn't know they wrote/sang this particual song but I've always liked it and was surprised it was them. What's the name of one of their biggest songs - it might have had Woman in the title/chorus?

It certainly is about personal taste.

As far as I'm concerned, Cohen (who puts me to sleep), Young (who my dog howled to) and Dylan (mumble mumble mumble heey) are all pretty much on one track.....same stuff for years.

A very good friend of mine played the piano with Neil Young, when he was in high school. Neil decided to move on to Toronto, and my friend's parents wouldn't let him leave Winnipeg.
When Neil Young played in Wpg, and my friend would go backstage, he would always get a welcome from Mr. Young!
I have the picture of the band from the Archives, and it is pretty awesome to see him and Neil ogether.

Awesome show.

I thought it was going to be solo acoustic. In fact, he played plenty of electric guitar, with massive, thunderous power cords juxtaposed with his vulnerable vocal style.

I'm not positive what the setlist was, but he didn't play it safe. I heard several unfamiliar songs.

Young performed on acoustic and electric guitars (2), an organ, an upright piano(a children's song) and a baby grand. And harmonica.

A few people yelled out, "Welcome home, Neil!" among other pleasantries throughout the evening. He was short on talk, but that's just his usual style.

This show just proved to me that Young is still a vitally relevant artist, both in terms of songwriting and stage performance.
