That is all.
Add "I am not completely incompetent" to that list, and you would have a very good shot. There were two other contenders last time around, but unfortunately both were wing-bats.

Probably should amend the title to this thread.....

Instead of "Leis pledges to present 'vision' for city" ....more
appropriate to her recent non- 'pledge' pledge...

perhaps it should be changed
to "Leis pledges to consult with people during the campaign before she
makes specific promises (like pledges) – about her vision for city”

? Leis pledges to present ‘vision’ for city - Page 2 Icon_rolleyes

Judy Washalishalees - Making Winnipeg More Better, Greener, Cooler, Funner, Gooder, World Classer and than that other guy who promised the same thing in 2004... but Judy actually means it.

I watched the press conference via the Free Press website.
She's going to have a disasterous campaign. I wonder why Bill Norrie attended her press conference.
I don't like coronations but I just don't see her as a strong candidate.
Katz is unbeatable.

Vision , No Vision

What a load of crap!
Sam Katz takes his vision this way! We have X Dollars to spend, How can we spend it in the best way that Council members can agree on!
That is a simple, business-like vision, and it is the only one that any Mayor (the ones that have no power- 1 vote, no veto) can accomplish

The only growth this city has is one where the people on social assisstance is at 21% over the previous year.

The Province and the Fed's should worry about social assisstance. The city should have nothing to do with social assisstance.

AHA! I thought I saw Judy's speech somewhere before

My fellow Americans. As a young boy, I dreamed of being a baseball, but
tonight I say, we must move forward, not backward, upward not forward,
and always twirling, twirling, twirling towards freedom.

say.. wait a minute.

just how did she get those signs printed up that they have in the background during her announcement? Until she filled her papers she could not raise or spend money. Miraculously less then 24 hours after filling she has a sign designed, ordered and printed?

Doesn't she have a slush fund from her fed seat from which she could easily have shaved a few grand for signs? ....about $150K worth?

nope... thanks to her awesome a$$hole friends on broadway she is only allowed to spend $1500 of her own money on her campaign.

But even pretending she just loaned herself the money and will pay it back from donations. Do you think its realistic that she would have been able to have a design team design the signs, have her and her campaign managers approve the signs, and have the signs printed in such a short time? Possible I guess, but not probable. Those signs were designed and ordered prior to her filing her papers damn near guaranteed.

heh.. I see the freep posted my Kodos comment. thats bound to bring out a few comments eh?

Remember that she is a nipper. No chance of her turning anything around quickly.

I can get those same style signs printed in less than 3 hours, so a 24-hour turnaround would be easy.

IF there's a big approval process...it could slow things down...but for something like what I saw...it's a simple template, and she probably has a marketing expert she called to get it done.

You are far too generous AA. She had EVERYTHING done in advance, save for actually ordering the signs. Count on it...

I don't even like her...
Every time I hear her speak, it sounds like a snake-oil salesman...nothing sounds genuine, always like a sales-pitch. And I have little trust for anyone who hyphenates their last name...pick a name already.

But, I was pointing out the sign thing...cause it's a pointless argument.

And design or planning costs nothing...there would be no "cost" involved till the actual signs are printed.

That assumes she did not have marketing advise and associated costs. It is pure speculation on my part. But I have deemed her guilty.

- We do know what Judy is against---business influence at City Hall.

Yes, the woman who has never had a real job in her life, never mind running a business that hires people for real jobs, thinks commerce is overrated.

City Hall, she said, doesn't listen enough to community groups, charities, social advocacy organizations, the disabled, and environmentalists.

Or, in other words, forget the people who pay taxes, and listen to the people who want to reach into your wallet and spend your money.

On her first day as a candidate, Wasylycia-Leis didn't want to discuss things that voters want to hear, like her proposals for property taxes.

How do you sugarcoat "I'm going to raise your taxes and give the money to my left-wing social worker, social engineer friends?"

Yikes, transparency be damned.

Judy Wasylycia-Leis and the vision thing

You hear ANYONE say that pavolo? I challenge you to find one single solitary post anywhere in the sandbox that suggests that action is okay.

The comment was about judy whatchamacallit. Do you agree? Disagree?

I think Triniman hit the nail on the head. Socialists generally look with great disdain on those who pay the bills, but pander, (yes, thats exactly what it is) to those who can get them elected.
