The restaurant should counter with negligence against the parents. If they would have been paying attention to all of their kids, the toddler wouldn't hjave gotten his hands on the alcohol. And who was driving home??? if both of the adults at the table were drinking??? Good example to set for your kids, ok to drink and drive (even if it's only one drink). (Unless they were taking public transportation or a cab but the article doesn't say that either)

When my husband and I go out for dinner with the kids we almost always have wine with dinner. I don't see a problem with having a drink while dining with children.

Having a drink with dinner isn't a big deal, with moderation. My kids used to bug me about drinking and driving if I had a beer with dinner, but I think it helps to show them moderation and self control. Having a drink doesn't mean getting sh1t-faced.

I'd be more concerned with the choice of beverage. What kind of real man drinks White Russians in front of his kids? Whats wrong with a real drink, a good pint of beer, or a JD on ice? No wonder our kids are turning out the way they do, lack of good parental role models. 2 year old takes a sip of a white russian Icon_smile

A while back we were out for dinner and at the next table a 2 year old was pouring salt into his mouth and licking the shaker. The parents weren't even paying attention.

(run out of coke)

(run out vodka, start using whiskey)
whatever that abomination was
(run out of kahula)
whiskey and milk
(which btw curdles quite nicely and forms a semisolid gelatinous goo if left for about 5 minutes)
semisolid gelatinous good slides out of glass and hits me in face, I try eating anyway...
