Recently, when the Free Press canceled the Sunday paper, I considered canceling home delivery. When the Monday - Friday papers became little more than a couple measly sections with very little compelling reading, I made the decision to cancel except for Saturday.

This marked the first time in more than 20 years that I did not have a paper delivered to my door every day.

How about you? Do you subscribe? Where do you get most of your news from?

I've been a daily FP subscriber for many years.

I do wonder, however, whether it is worth buying it since I can get it, plus breaking news and updates, right from their website, for free.

I read the Sun online, most days, too.

There's no doubt in my mind that the quality of the FP has gone down over the years. I bought the first issue of the Sunday paper and was really disappointed by the quality. So much so that I never bought another issue.

The FP seems to have forgotten that news is what someone, somewhere, doesn't want you to know. Everything else is advertising.

No I don't...I first and foremost believe in saving a few trees and I always read the online versions only as a result...

And I was also asked to participate in an online survey by one of the local newspapers if I would agree with paying a nominal fee for the online version which I said no to and mainly because the online version is presently partially paid for in my opinion by all the advertising etc that is part of the online version...

We haven't had home delivery of the FP for some time now. I usually pick one up in the morning (along with the Sun) and they get passed around at work. The only time I miss the morning delivery is Saturday, as it was my routine to get up before everyone, make some breakfast and read the paper, uninterupted and in the quiet.

I subscribe to both the Freep and the Sun.

I subscribe and read the Press every day at lunch at work. Disappointed a bit about the Sundays, but it's the paper I pick between the two locals. I don't mind reading online, but it's just much easier to have my physical in front of me while eating.

We haven't had home delivery for years...it's all on-line now.

But I have to admit that it took some time to get used to NOT having a hard copy to spill my coffee on.

Used to have the FreeP when we first moved out....it only lasted a few months of nobody reading it before it was canceld. That was 7 years ago...

Online is where I get most of my news. I travel to the good news sites, and the bad news sites, and many sites that call them news sites that are just propaganda. Gotta get both sides of the story(s) to make up my own mind.

The only paper I buy is the Saturday Freep from the corner store.

I have "the times" delivered to my house almost every week!

we get the freep delivered at work.

We purchased my dad (lives way outside the city) a Saturday only Freep subscription for his Bday. They screwed up and sent a full week subscription so we called and got it changed to Saturday. They called him 4 days later and "gave" him the other days for free for a 6 month trial to see if he wants all days. Pretty sure the answer will be no,

I decided and try the CanWest papers (Vancouver Sun, Calgary Herald, Ottawa Citizen, National Post, etc). I pay $10/month (for all 11 papers) and get the full paper (minus the flyers), I can read them on my computer and/or download them to my e-reader, and read them on the bus.

Used to but not any more. They will go the way of the buggy before too long. I buy the Saturday Free Press and I'm always aghast at how much paper is involved. Must be 3 pounds. I get my news from the nightly tv broadcasts as well as anything and everything on-line (both papers). The only time they get my $1.50 nowadays is when I'm having lunch by myself and need something to flip through.
