Potato Heads Anyone?

Peak of the market has been the most successful marketing board in this country and in the world. They have proven to be the best thing for the farmers. The farmers are getting more for their produce by 87% over the average they got when there was no marketing board.
Peak of the market has developed "our Manitoba produce" as the tastiest vegetables in the WORLD, and as such they get a huge premium from the restaurants that pride themselves in the quality and taste that they serve.
There can be no criticism that is valid against Peak of the Market, just a bunch of clowns, probably the Loserpegs that seem to be around!!

Except that the same Marketing Boards or governments are not providing any evidence of how they come up with those figures because they first are usually old figures to start with and in the present they have eliminated any competition in relation to where the farmer can sell their produce so how on earth can they spin anything else then what they are spinning?...And because those involved can only sell to the Marketing Boards themselves and not the "Free Market Itself" if they so chose to?...and then produce and wheat and grains etc in particular are commodities that are traded and prices vary from year to year etc...

Yeah and also although Peak of the Market can perhaps try and "control" where the local Mb farmers are selling their produce or potatoes in this case within MB...

However...Peak of the Market cannot control the "Imports from the US" or elsewhere that are found in our grocery stores daily that are generally cheaper especially in the winter months etc and in which in some cases perhaps better in quality then the MB grown produce or potatoes in this case...

So yeah so much now can be said about Peak of the Market trying to control every potato or vegetable farmer "ONLY IN MB" and nothing else...

Except for that Peak of the Market themselves are trying to become a "Monopoly within MB"...

peak of the market is getting so desperate to establish a market monopoly on potatoes they have a goon driving around in a orange chevy avalanche spying on small farmers and sellers. he takes photos and video of people buying, selling or handling them. how do i know this? ive seen him. a relative of mine is in the business and has been followed as he carries out his activities. lic plate no. DBC 91#. the guys about 6 foot 8 and looks like an overgrown version of the bogey man. peak calls him a "compliance officer". what a joke.

it is my understanding that even though peak can "regulate" the potato trade in manitoba there is "no legislative sanction" for non compliance with their "rules". this means that there is nothing peak can do to anyone who disobeys larry and his carrot. i would encourage small farmers to grow and sell even more and wait for larrys "potato police" to try to stop them. i doubt they have the balls to do anything. go to hell larry!

On one hand Marketing Boards restrict who the producers sell their product to...

And on the other hand the "Marketing Boards" themselves are allowed to sell the same product to however they chose to...Hum!...

But that's thing djh...Marketing Boards set the rules where the small farmer can sell their product which in this case "could be or not be" such as farmers markets etc and yeah the small farmers are more than angry at the moment and will hopefully unite to kill this "carrot and potato" thing already...because it is all wrong from the get go...and small farmers don't want to be told by a Marketing Board or government where they can sell their produce or potatoes...

peak believes they have a "legislated mandate" to control potato marketing in manitoba. i would argue that violates fundamental rights of independant peoples right to free association. if a farmer plants a seed on HIS land, he has an absolute right to sell it to whomever and for whatever he wants. no "rule" that larry and his cronies make up can change that. i know alot about this subject and i hope people out there educate themselves on it because although potatoes may seem like a mundane subject, the principle here is very important.

I agree with you that the principle here is very important...and for me it should be that we don't need all this "socialism" in this province or country and that we should let the "Markets and the People(producers)" chose and decide who they sell their product to because it is or should be their right to do so in a true "Democracy"...

there are people on this forum who dont like what i say but anyway, people, for the sake of common decency, boycott peak of the market! if you eat at a restaurant ask if they use peaks products. if they do, dont order food with potatoes, onions or carrots. small farmers should not be abandoned in their struggle against larry and large corporate farms like kreoker farms!
