What is open on Good Friday? Some restaurants are open but my question is can they serve alcohol?

Just stock up on Thursday and don't worry about it. I'll be over to check it out.

its probably best that you call the restraunt you want to attend. A number are actually closed as the owners are religous and close that day.

From my understanding, the only day that liquor can't be served on is Remembrance Day and only before 1PM. All other days is free rein, we have been out on Christmas Day for dinner and been able to buy alcohol. But yes, best to call to make sure the restaurant is even open and for reservations.

Deank I have fixed your proclivity to spell restaurant incorrectly. You're welcome.

Now we are trying to decide what restaurant to go to. Any suggestions?

Holidays, like Sundays, dictate 12pm start for alcohol service, legally, except for Remembrance Day, as mentioned. Of course, restaurants can start later or cancel service at their discretion.

I really enjoyed The Maple Tree in Selkirk. Alternatively, there's Café Dario in the city, but for some reason, I liked the other location better. Better service, perhaps?

Oh well, I am gonna take some fine red wine, some munchies and go out to the Whiteshell to air out the cabin.....no worries there. If, however, memory serves correct, some restaurants will be open for night service.

If you really like personalized service, I also had a good experience at Beaujena's. Surprise, prix-fixe meal. For an idea of the meals, you can read Chef Reynold's blog. They were accommodating when I said I didn't like fish.

I got an email from the mailing list and they are open on Good Friday.

I was just looking at Beaujena's website and it does look interesting. The last time I was there it was the Red Lantern. I like the idea of being surprised. Thanks for he links Anny!

The surprise dinner is like being a judge on the Iron Chef.

Sounds like a wonderful idea.

Just got back from the Whiteshell.....what a strange day weather-wise - thunder and lightning and hail! And a leaky roof....hahahaha......oh well, not a bad day at all!

Everything was perfect, the service was beyond exceptional and the food was out of this world.
