I agree the wording is awkward. They could also have said a case of 24 beer.

Maybe they should have bet kegs of beer, and avoided all this confusion...

I allways called a 12 of beer a "box of Beer"

A 24 was a "two four"

And a 6 was a "poverty pack"

Most of my friends say it the same way as I do.
