well at least the people running for the leadership appear to have ears and are willing to listen to the people.

If Bob Rae becomes leader and Canada actually elects him as the next PM then I will move to the USA. Look what he did to Ontario. Imagine what he'd do to Canada....

Heh...I don't think you'd have to move.

The West (and Quebec) would seperate.

If memory serves me right Rea was the first NDP goverment and the reaction from the Manufacturing sector was the main reason for what followed. Least from what I remember at the time He did not cause it but then Brian did not sell out his country .

The Canadian Press OTTAWA — Stephane Dion will resign as Liberal leader today, The Canadian Press has learned.

Dion will issue a written statement shortly, clearing the way
for Michael Ignatieff to take over, a close associate said. Liberals want a new leader in place before a vote on the
federal budget Jan. 27 that could plunge the country into another
election or replace the Conservatives with a coalition government. Ignatieff is expected to be installed as leader Wednesday by a vote of party MPs and senators.

He has the lion’s share of caucus support and will get another
boost today when New Brunswick MP Dominic LeBlanc announces he’s
withdrawing from the leadership contest and throwing his support to the
front-runner.

Harper is without a doubt an arrogant man. The same has been said of Ignatieff. Heh heh.

Now with Ignatieff having gone on record as anti-coalition what happens to the coalition?

notice it was in a letter?.. and that he never actually said this all out loud?

"As the Governor-General has granted a prorogation, it is a logical time for us Liberals to assess how we can best prepare our party to carry this fight forward," Mr. Dion says in his resignation letter.

"There is a sense in the party, and certainly in the caucus, that given these new circumstances the new leader needs to be in place before the House resumes. I agree. I recommend this course to my party and caucus. As always, I want to do what is best for my country and my party, especially when Canadians' jobs and pensions are at risk.

"So I have decided to step aside as Leader of the Liberal Party effective as soon as my successor is duly chosen."

Ignatieff of course. Good for them - another leader that real Canadians don't relate to. Their revival will be a whimper.

Rae is a socialist....I hope the people of Ontario remember what he did to that province while he was the Premier...and I hope it is reflected in the votes.

Yes it is not the most exciting choice is it Both are old tired true Liberals they need someone younger and full of new Ideas. Ready to dream of better days . The party is killing its self doing what it is re hashing old standards of personnel , and ignoring the up and coming ones this is why they are faltering .

I thought it was because they are broke. The young guns aren't risking their personal dough, while the old sling shots are hanging around waiting to empty the liberal tin can as coins get thrown into it. Why don't they just sink the party, name, and old geezers, and start from scratch with professionals? Ewwww, I just gave out advice to the enemy...
