Manitoba NDP great for business.

Manitoba leads all provinces in job creation. Looks like it's a job well done by the provincial government and the pro-business premier Greg Selinger.

It would be nice to have a country wide number of jobs not paid for by government listing.

Mostly part-time jobs, hmmm, how does that rate amongst the commie bastards? How many of them were unionized?

I want nothing more than to applaud the government for creating a SUSTAINABLE job creation strategy.

Government jobs and jobs related to government construction projects are not sustainable.

From WFP:
It was a much different situation in Manitoba, where most of the new
jobs created were full-time. The number of employed full-time people
here increased 1.0 per cent from December, while the number of
part-time employed increased 3.3 per cent.

The math used is...questionable.

Statistics Canada said the private sector was responsible for all of the job gain, with most of the new jobs being part-time.

Well if Statistics Canada says that ALL the created jobs were in the private sector, I'd say they were out to lunch.

In my wife's department, they hired at least two people that I know of.....so....ALL is nonsense.

no no its true JTF..WHY?

Because its the private sector that actually does all the government building and such.

Here is a taught about how Stats Can. calculates the emp. rate etc...

a) The stat is based on the number of individuals on EI at any given time...

b) So as the ind. applies that ind is calculated to qualify for EI or claim rejected which EI counts for that particular month...Ok...So now...

1st question....What happens to the rejected app in the previous month?

2nd....Does Stat Can. count that applicant as employed or unemployed in the second month and how would Stat Can know that applicant is now employed or not?...Do they follow that applicant home every night or something?

3rd...Does Stat Can also count "all" on other social programs and not employed as unemployed or employed for that month?

4th...Who decides the length of time a claim can last and or qualification requirements etc?...Government...so

5th...What happens to the individual that is no longer on EI and still unemployed?...

6th...Are they still counted as unemployed now by Stats Can?...and for how long are tracked?

Ok that should keep you going for a while...My point...The "Unemployed Stats in Canada" are a neat way for governments to do what they do...But the numbers are a funny thing to look at when one looks at it and in relation to how governments use those numbers for their personal spins...GGF

Umm, I have a job thanks.

You will need to support your conspiracy theories GGF. You can't just run around the sandbox throwing wild-ass conspiracy theories out there without at least some relevant support.

Anywho, there are some calculations guberment statisticians use to develop a reasonable, and defensible I think, employment rate.

I believe the numbers include the unemployed and those that both recently STOPPED looking for employment and those that recently BEGAN looking for employment.

I don't think there is a conspiracy underfoot whereby the government is inventing numbers. That serves very little purpose.

"personal spin"????? Whose personal spin? The stats are release by Statistics Canada?

While there are gaps in the reporting (what about people who have fallen off the EI roles?), they give an indicator of employment in the country, if nothing else, by comparison to previous periods.
