Olympic torch in Manitoba today, tomorrow

Olympic spirit is set to fire up in Winnipeg today as the torch relay makes its way into the city.

The flame is expected to arrive about 4:30 p.m. at the Ed Golding Memorial Arena in Transcona before the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Torch Relay heads through Elmwood, St. Boniface, downtown and to The Forks for about 7 p.m.

Festivities will kick off there at 5 p.m. with plenty of entertainment including video presentations, fireworks and a performance by country band Doc Walker.

The torch will remain in the city until Thursday, when the final leg of the relay in Winnipeg gets underway at 8 a.m. at Minto Armouries and winds up at the Royal Bank of Canada's branch at 3297 Portage Ave.

Anyone participating in this?

Note that during the torch's run across the Esplanade Riel the bridge will be illuminated for the first time in colour. Red I believe. MrP - get pic's!
