Six different players score as Brandon Wheat Kings rock Regina Pats 6-4(CP) – 23 hours ago
REGINA — The Brandon Wheat Kings had goals from six different players to rock the Regina Pats 6-4 in the Western Hockey League Saturday night.
Brenden Walker, Mark Stone, Jordan DePape, Brayden Schenn, Matt Calvert, and Aaron Lewadniuk all scored for Brandon (20-11-2), which has won seven of its last eight.
Jordan Eberle had a late hat trick for Regina (15-14-3), while Hampus Gustafsson added a single.
Lewadniuk got things started for Brandon with a power play goal midway through the first. Setting up the goal with a great backdoor feed was Toni Rajala, who will be attending the Finish World Junior Team Selection camp in Calgary later this month.
Just over three minutes later DePape made it 2-0 when he snuck behind both Regina's defencemen, took a pass from Stone then beat Damien Ketlo for his third goal of the season.
In the second Brandon exploded for four goals, the first of which came on the power play when Schenn made a great feed from the halfboards and through a crowd right on the tape of Urbom at the goalmouth for an easy tip in. Schenn, along with Scott Glennie, will be back in Regina next week to attend the Canadian World Junior Team Selection camp along with Pats Eberle and Colten Teubert.
Also scoring in the second for Brandon was Stone with a five-hole wrister, Calvert with pretty partial breakaway goal and Walker with a tip in to make it 6-0.
With less than a minute left in the frame Regina's Jordan Eberle gave the 4,469 in attendance some consolation when he blocked a point shot at his own blue line, grabbed the loose puck at centre ice and scored on a breakaway with a pretty backhanded deke.
Regina added three more in the third-one from Gustaffson and two from Eberle, one of which was shorthanded-but ran out of time before Eberle could do any more damage.
Brandon goalie Andrew Hayes (13-8-1) was solid in net, making 38 saves in the win. Taking the loss for Regina was Damien Ketlo (10-9-2), who let in four goal on 17 shots before he was replaced by Dawson Guhle (5-5-1).
