I had them as a kid but don't remember what the beginning of pox looks like. My Mom is no longer here to ask and my Dad traveled alot when I was a kid so he isn't much help.

My son has these weird blister like lesions on his testicles, inner thighs and one on his eyelid. He has eczema so the eyelid thing isn't new but it looks worse today. Can anyone shed some light? Getting in to see his Dr will be next to impossible.

well testicles, inner thigh and under arms is where they usually will start... but blister like? might be something more severe.. or a simple bad case of heat rash.

hmm what size are they? pin point, baby figer tip? dime?

I read an article that stated that since Chicken Pox is actually a type of Herpes, you are less likely to catch genital herpes later in life if you have had Chicken Pox as a child.

My kids and I had them all at once when I was 26 and they were 2, 4 & 6 It was the worst spring break I have ever had. Have a lot of oatmeal handy as well as an old wool work sock, works great as a natural loofa to help soothe the itch in the bath tub. I also have heard that Aveeno makes a good lotion for the type of itching that will happen with the pox. Chin up Goth, this too will pass............ and then it will be time for all to celebrate.

yeah we used lots of aveno when our kids had it.

I had chicken pox when I was 2. followed 4 weeks later by german measles. Needless to say with 3 kids in the house my mom was going a wee bit crazy.

We canceled the hotel stay and rebooked it fir Nov 27. Poor Jamie, he isn't even feeling ill but he can't go out...hard for a 4 year old to understand. I am going to make them homemade pizza tomorrow, and rent movies and try to make the best of a bad situation.

Goth - bummer on cancelling your plans but he will recover.

@JTF -Hahahahahahaha........Well, at that point in time if I were to catch that sort of cootie I would have to have put the blame on he who shall not be named.....cheeky devil you are JTF...... Chicken Pox Icon_smile

We were on our way to Calgary for Christmas that year and about two hours or so out of Calgary it hit me.....I had to lay down in the back seat under a blanket.....got to ma in law's and she promptly diagnosed it.....took another three or four days to recover....weird as I had thought I had it as a child. My only concern with having gotten chicken pox so late in life was that it can lead to one getting the shingles later on.....my great grandmother had come down with the shingles in her 90's so.....oh well.

Goth - get calamine lotion.....

Even if you had chicken pox as a kid you can still develop shingles as an adult. I was reading up on it today. My brother in law just had shingles.

We have Calamine and Benadryl. The hubby spoke to healthlinks and the nurse said we could still take the kids out so we will take them out for dinner and a movie. At least some of the weekend is salvagable.

Now my daughter seems to have some weird chicken pox like rash around her mouth. It is nowhere else on her body. I am thinking it is impetigo but not sure. I have been keeping the area clean and using polysporin on it.
