in 1917 he was transferred to the 4th Canadian Field Ambulance at Vimy Ridge, he remained with the 4th CFA untill he was shipped home in 1919

Found some cool documents from the 4th CFA.
This is the war diary from the battle of Amiens, August 13th and 14th. 1918.

We owe many of our freedoms and quality of life for the brave individuals who sacrifice their lives for Canada.

Remembering Sacrifice. 1066467

Lipsett Hall was named after my Great Uncle. Many of my Grandfathers, Great Grandfathers, Great Uncles, cousins, etc. fought to make Canada a better place. Today out soldiers continue to try and make the world a better place. Our troops are currently trying to rebuild Afghanistan, and to provide stability for that region despite the war not being too popular in North America. This is their day. We owe them our graditude.

I was holding 2 of his service medals this morning We watched the national service in Ottawa on TV.

IMHO Things should go back to the way they were in the 70's

If we don't remember their sacrifice or teach new generations about it, then we will be doomed to repeat it. And all you who take it for granted should be the first to go.

Agreed. We need to stop taking what we have for granted and honour those who paid he ultimate sacrifice for us. Taking one day out of our regular lives to give thanks is not too much to ask.

Its not only about giving thanks, because in reality, you just can't do it enough. Its also about remembering.

WHen I left for the army at 17, my mother was devastated. I couldn't figure that out for years, but it finally came to me. During "her" time, she saw many friends leave, and many came back

Most of us grew up through the Cold War and while we prepared, it never happened. Now times have changed, and we see young men and women dying in Afghanistan. We just never learn. I think Remembrance Day is becoming more relevant today, not that it should ever be considered irrelevant, as we once again see sons, daughters, husbands, wives, brothers and sisters going in harms way, with the real possibility that they will not come home.
