And...matters of "personal" safety ARE an individual choice.

I've told the guys who work for us that if they ever need help working on their homes...give me a call, I'll bring the beer, and probably show up in shorts & sandals (in the summertime).

But when working in commercial construction, it's NEVER about "personal" safety...it's about "individual" safety...and the litigious society that's developed threatens the businesses who encourage safety, yet can't enforce it for stupid people.

And, to be fair...it's not always the stupid ones who get injured. It's that split-second when the unexpected happens where most injuries/incidents occur.

Plus...MOST safety equipment is not preventative...it's a deterrent. It's the first thing you put on, but the last thing you want to use.


And to answer the other question above. No...officially they do NOT make any type of head protection gear which fits over a turban. Technically, the headgear available cannot be worn over a ball cap either. Anything that prevents the headgear from sitting squarely and securely to the head is considered obstructive...and therefore a hazard in itself.
