apparently there may soon be legislation that allows police to administer the breathalyzer whenever they want, instead of just when they figure the people they stop have been drinking.

I'm kind of torn on this one. I still believe that police need probable cause to do anything rather than just arbitrarily stop someone and demand ID, breathalizer, etc.

Maybe, just maybe, if the politicians put some teeth into the legislation and sentencing for drunk drivers, then that would be a greater deterrent to those who drink and drive. Need I mention Crystal Taman and what happened to the guy that killed her?

Random Breathalyzer Testing - Brought to you by the same crowed of "safety" nuts who managed to get red light "safety camera's" installed....

This idea is horsesh*t.
Where's the outrage?

Sorry, I don't buy the "if you've not nothing to hide, then you have nothing to fear" statement that comes flying out of peoples mouths every time yet another of our liberties and/or privacy is trounced.

Sorry, if you want to get drunk drivers off the roads, then stiffer sentences are required. If the police need to set up more random check stops, so be it. Probable cause first, please!

I agree. Not sure how anyone can hide drinking from a cop that pulls them over. But better yet, if you are able to hide the drinking from the officer... how exactly are you impaired?

Sorry...but I agree with you. Probable cause must be needed or we'll have a Police State.
