I dunno, I think this will prove to be effective marketing.

The how-to video, which in itself is not an ad, but a resource:

hilarious bleeped version:

Anyone interested in hosting or attending a party?

No, win 98 and ME people did not get XP free. why would us Vista users get it?

actually Vista is sh1t compared to Win 7. Vista is FAT and SLOW and was a mistake to release, much like windows 98 is a mistake to release. I think (I stress that again "I Think") MS will let Vista users upgrade to 7 for a reduced amount. but as far as I know there are no upgrades to upgrade from XP or earlier OS's.

I KNOW Vista is a pig....i have referred to it as such many times.....if the goddamned OS was so flawed to begin with then why the frig did they bother releasing it? It is not like Microsnot is desperate for revenue....christ.....very tiresome to have to beta test something and have to pay for the privilege of doing so.

That's correct, there is no upgrade vector below Windows XP.

If you bought your laptop/PC with Vista on it, and it came with "upgrade rites" to Windows 7, then yes, you'll be able to get Win7 for free (not really free...Vista was free with your laptop/pc until 7 comes out, the price for Win7 was bundled in place of Vista)

If you don't have upgrade rites, then you'll either have to purchase a upgrade (assuming you have a license from a previous version) or a full blown copy.

There was a pre-order period (not sure if it's still on) where MS was giving out huge discounts on Win7. I pre-ordered two copies for the three machines at home. (laptop already has Vista, it's "good enough" and doesn't warrant an upgrade IMHO)

Onward and upward!

P.S. Win98 was rock solid, so long as you knew what you were doing!

No one is forcing anyone to use MS products. If you don't like them, then switch to something else?

If your into flushing even more money down the toilet, then get a Mac, if your looking for ultra low cost, then download a copy of Linux to put on your PC's. There are hundreds of different distros available, find one you like. Best part, they are all (mostly) for free!

There are also lots of emulators and other tools to assist with compatibility issues as well (start/open office for example).

P.S. - The reason Vista was released when it was (remember, it was almost considered "vapor-ware" at one point!) was because it had been delayed for a very long time in development. It had been almost 7-8 years since Microsoft had released any new OS's, all they had done was focus on the Office suite and buying up neat technologies from other people and incorporating them into existing products.

I like OpenOffice, I use it. I wont pay for MS Office ever again

PS. win 98 just did not work right for me. I kept 95 till I upgraded to Windows 2000. then switched to XP.
