Nobody challenged your right to speech on this thread. Read the posts carefully. No one blasphemed your God. No one invited others to blasphemy your God.

If this thread invites people to vigorously challenge the notion of a God then that is a good thing.

Of the 210 million people who were murdered in the past 2k years, just under half were killed by religion. And just under half were killed by atheistic communism. So I'd say Religious people can be some of the most horrible people.

If that is what makes you happy, then I fully back your decision. But be careful, now that you have religion, some people might think you are a horrible human being Wink

God is imaginary and religion is a crutch for the weak mined. And also a way to control the masses.

I don't think religion is horrible but I cannot stand those who preach. I have had a few friends turn to religion and they are so annoying! I rarely speak to those friends anymore....

But just remember that not everyone who embraces religion and faith are like that. I myself have a hard time listening to the true "Jesus Freaks" myself Smile

Amazing, these interpretations of whatever.....this is why I believe religion is flawed....way too open to interpretation which can be skewed any way to suit the individual's particular needs.

BTW Edwin no one implied that being religious makes one horrible. What is horrible are the misdeeds committed in the name of whatever deity....that is horrible. What may be humour to you comes across as a pity seeking gesture as in "poor me but the atheists are slagging me again"......remember, nobody slagged you personally in that other thread. Profess your faith all you like but be prepared to run into viewpoints that may not jibe with yours.

Fair enough, but I guess the same can go for people who get upset when a man makes a joke about a woman, which may not appeal to some other peoples sense of humor.

Red Herring argument.....

btw some of those "woman" jokes are pretty demeaning and while they may seem harmless, they can contain very nasty and hateful undertones....or reinforce outdated stereotypes. Walk a mile in my Pradas and you would understand my reasoning. It can get rather tiresome being lumped into "bitch" categories simply because one has chosen to live outside the box. Add to that the very personal struggles that some of us are going through, gender specificity notwithstanding, and it is easy to see how one needs to have a thick skin because there is a lot of hating and baiting out there. Sometimes that can be pretty goddamned energy-draining when one has little to spare.

Red Herring; please. The same can be said for people who come on here and claim "God is fake and non-existant and people with a religious background are horrible entities". Don't you think that is demeaning to people with faith and religion in their lives? Don't you think that might be a little insulting? Where do you draw the line? Censor everything or let everyone say what they want? We can't have our cake and eat it too. I would prefer to let people speak their minds, as this is a democratic society.

A point that really is not supposed to ever be discussed because of a "No Triflers" rule, but I feel compelled to let you know, is that those that convert to Jadaism, het 73 virgins and $73,000 to take them out for a week!

David Asper has the money to grant!

It's funny when people relate communism and atheism - one is a political system and the the other is a lack of belief in a deity. The two have nothing to do with each other. Relating the two is a purely American '50s scare tactic.

I don't think anybody is saying anyone else is horrible, but make no mistake, god is fake. That is, unless a street address or lat/long can be provided as to god's location. Then we can see for ourselves.

Several people just did in several posts.
Riverman wrote:

Believing that God is fake is a mistake that I will never make. There have been too many circumstances in my life where I recieved help that cannot scientifically be explained. There was an incident where I should have been seriously hurt or killed, but had been saved by someone, when no one was around. I believe that would have been my guardian angel looking out for me. Make no mistake, God is real. But if you choose to believe otherwise, that is your right to choose. Free will.
