Norh end again! Jebus we need to nuke that part of town. It is completely out-of-control. No one seems to be able to fix that neighbourhood.

Maybe if n raises her voice??? Dogged indignation hasn't worked.

Umm...why doesn't it say why the warrant was issued?

were they gang guns? were they stolen guns?

just having the guns means nothing...it's not like SHE was out shooting people with them...so it's really none of the cops business.

Now if they have a suspect in custody, who said his guns were kept in that house...THEN I can understand the raid...otherwise...there was no reason for this.

If they knew about the guns, then the warrant was indeed warranted. Why does it matter how they found out about the guns?

It doesn't matter that she HAS the guns.

Unless she's a threat, or is holding them for someone who is a threat, or the guns could somehow become a threat because of who has them...it's none of their business.

Maybe she's a collector?
Maybe they belonged to her dad?

My point is...there needs to be more to this story...like WHY the warrant was issued? Did some neighbor rat her out? Did someone look through her window and see the guns?

Some of those guns are illegal in Canada. Just like the meth lab for personal use that Airt has stored in his garage.. illegal is illegal. If they know she has them, they need to act.

oh...right...keep forgetting...it's not the USA where (at least for now..till Obama gets around to it)...guns are considered a right...and not dangerous until placed in the hands of someone who is actually committing a REAL crime.

I don't have any sort of drug lab on my property. The WMD lab takes up too much room.

uh, none of those guns is illegal in canada

the sten machine gun requires a prohibited class of firearms license. and would actually be a nice collectors item.

as Ages says, there has to be more to this story.

they dont know if the guns have serial numbers on them, which means they havnt even checked to see if they were registered or not.

so yeah, they obviously went into the house for something else.

Holy sh1t, do you guys really believe what you post? A sub-machine gun is not dangerous? What, you use them for hunting? A sten or any type of SMG has only one purpose, and no one needs one.

who said anything about using a machine gun for hunting?

its most likely a collectors item, probably passed down from a father or grandfather from WW2.
There are plenty of collectors around who have a lot more items like this. they are not dangerous unless the person wants to use them for something dangerous.

dean, we dont know if she has the proper license for them because it doesnt say why they were confiscated. its not that hard for someone to get a prohibited license, i have restricted class which consisted of about 4 hours of classroom time, mailing in an application and waiting 4-6 weeks for my license to come in the mail.
Prohibited is no different except that only people of a certain age, or people who owned or inherited prohibited firearms when the new legislation came out could apply for one.

i should clarify i'm not defending the woman, i'm sure she did something wrong or they wouldnt have been raiding her house, but this article just serves to spread unjustified fear of guns.

The hunting comment was pure sarcasm.

there is nothing anyone can say to convince me that there is any sort of valid argument for someone to have an opeational sten gun at home. It is not a "souvenir), it is a weapon, pure and simple, which was designed as a cheap easily produced weapon to kill.

I have no fear of guns. I am a gun owner. I have served in the military and have full respect for guns. I have a fear of assholes, and when you give one of them a gun, especially something as dangerous as a Sten, someone is bound to get hurt, and it could be me or someone I care for.

Yeah...but it's not illegal to be an a$$hole (just browse the forum a bit Wink)...GUNS ARE NOT DANGEROUS...PEOPLE ARE DANGEROUS.

I HATE those morons who think that a gun is dangerous. And if governments were REALLY so paranoid about people owning guns...they'd shut down the gun manufacturers and confiscate EVERY gun...even from hunters, and collectors...and DESTROY them. But GUNS AREN'T DANGEROUS!!!

What the real problem is, is the prosecution and lack of execution of those who use guns for crimes. If this woman had USED the guns to commit a crime, and actually shot someone with them...there should be no hesitation...put her in a public forum, and shoot her between the eyes. Then the NEXT guy who thinks about committing a crime with a gun will think twice.

The Sten may not have been a collectors' item - I seem to recall someone in Manitoba was busted a couple of years ago, and he had manufactured a few functional Sten gun knockoffs.

Please do not lecture for my benefit. Of course guns don't kill. But as I said, assholes do and assholes with guns are even more dangerous.

I'm not talking about government taking guns away from legitimate owners, I'm talking about common sense, and common sense tells me no one needs a submachine gun.
