are you or do you know someone between 7 and 12 who wants to try hockey for the first time ever... FREE?

GLENWOOD COMMUNITY CENTER ARENA
27 OVERTON STREET, WINNIPEG

WHAT IS IT?

A program to introduce males and females to the game of hockey at no charge to the participant.
Open to players between the ages of 7 – 12, who have never had an opportunity to experience organized hockey so far.

EQUIPMENT ASSISTANCE AND INFORMATION SESSION:

All participants will be assisted with basic equipment that they will need for the on ice session.
All participants will receive a special “Recruitment Day” sweater and hockey stick to keep. Also, a team meal is provided by the Hockey Manitoba.
Minimal equipment required: skates, helmet [w/ cage], and stick. Our committee can help with equipment needs, if necessary.

On ice / video / classroom component
Introduces basic skills in a positive, fun, non-threatening environment
Open to males and females, between the ages of 7-12, who have never had an opportunity to experience organized hockey.
Opportunity to learn and gather information about your local hockey association and other hockey programs available in the area.
No financial obligation or commitment to register for further hockey programs.
Individuals interested in pursuing hockey further are given an opportunity to sign up with various programs.
EQUIPMENT PICK-UP AND INFORMATION SESSION:
All participants will be given new or used equipment that they can keep.
Experienced personnel will assist with the equipment needs of each individual.
All participants will receive a special “Recruitment Day” sweater to keep.
ON ICE SESSION
This session is designed to give the “new hockey player”, an opportunity to try the game using their newly acquired equipment and under the safe supervision of certified hockey coaches.
1 hour of basic skills and fun activities on a full ice surface.
Recommended a maximum of 30 participants.
Fun games and cross ice games.
VIDEO / OFF ICE SESSION
This session is appropriate for all interested hockey participants.
45 minutes of fun in a team building atmosphere
Facilitated by qualified hockey coaches and volunteers.

PARTICIPANT EXPECTATIONS:
Arrive early to select your own hockey equipment
Meet and make new friends
Experience the passion of hockey and learn the basic skills of the game.

2:30 PM – 3:30 PM ON- ICE SESSION FOR ALL PARTICIPANTS
3:30 PM – 3:45 PM CHANGE OUT FOR TEAM MEAL
3:45 PM - 4:30 PM TEAM MEAL, MINOR HOCKEY INFORMATION, WRAP UP
