I guess Kelly does not like the tough questions. I guess Bauer can't find a way to muzzle his coach. Kelly says he wants to "control the message".

So they ban fans from calling in and asking "stupid" questions. This is yet another prime example of Kally's arrogance. And his immaturity. He can't seem to contain himself when callers offend his sensibility so ban the fans.

This clown doesn't seem to get it. Too bad Bauer is empowering this move.

Will this alienate the fans? Or is it a smart move?

Some of those "questions" were way over the line imho. He's right in doing what he did.

With a 7 second delay, they could easily hang up on the "idiots" but this just shows that Kelly and Bauer really don't understand who pays their salary.

Problem is that the idiots don't act like idiots until they are on the air. Anyway, it's the same people phoning in all the time.

I understand the idiot issue. How do other call in shows handle the idiots?

I've never listened to the show so I don't know how big the problem is. If after a while the idiots are banned/cut-off/well handled would the show settle down?

These call in shows all have call display so it would be very easy to screen the calls from the so called "idiots" even if they used other phone numbers. And if the calls are threatening in nature the caller can be reported to the police. Once these guys realize that the call in show means business then the lines will open up again for other callers. But it still goes to show that Kelly and Bauer don't care that the fans are the ones who pay their salary. I know that a collegue of mine and 9 of his friends were going to Regina for the game this weekend but after the announcement this morning he and his friends have decided to not go. I know that this is a small portion of the cash flow for any team but you will see more of this type of thing happening if Kelly and Bauer continue to play these types of games.

I can't be bothered to listen to sport call in shows anyway, but whats the point of being on the radio. What is it, hour, hour and a half, and they expect folks just to sit and listen to someone pontificate or drawl on about last weeks loss? Isn't the point to engage the listener aka fan? If there are an over abundance of idiots, then jsut use the kill switch and move on. Maybe CJOB should be concerned about their listenership (if there is such a word)?

There's nothing worse for a call-in show than to have no callers. Without the idiots, there'd be few callers and the show would be extremely dull and slow moving....ever listen to Dorothy Dobie's show? lol

I expect that were the call-in show to receive calls from only the idiots and the uber-fans it would be horrid radio.

Have you guys ever actually listened to the show? The looneys were turning it into a circus and ruining it for everyone. I'm glad the show will actually be talking about football now, rather than a bunch of wackos berating Kelly.

I do believe the coach should be able to take criticism though, but this was far beyond criticism these were morons calling and threatening and insulting him. Couldn't CJOB just do a better job of screening?

I listened last night because of this controversy.

I like having Bob ask the questions sent in by email - makes me feel like the time (that which isn't full of annoying commercials, weather reports, or even a sports report, in which the sports reporter reported on what the coach just said!) allocated for the show is used to maximum efficiency.

I have caught parts of the show on occasion in the past, and the callers that aren't abusive or suck-ups just take so long to get the point of their question across.

In summary, good move. BTW, the show is called the Mike Kelly show, not the Blue Bomber Fan Call-in show.

Good comments. Reminds me of how Gail and Thorni first bailed out on appearing on CJOB and then appeared on the provisio of not having to take calls. Similar, eh?

The arrogance of Kelly is unbelievable. Once Kelly is fired, and he will be, who in their right mind would risk hiring such a PR nightmare as head coach again? He is not so smart as to recognize that is he?

Now the arrogance is extended to John Murphy, Winnipeg's director of player personnel, who has the audacity to stand up and sprout rules about about talking about player contracts in the media that he clearly is incapable of following.

And Bauer defends this gong show.

The Bombers had better start winning and soon. Else the fans will make life unbelievably miserable for these clowns. The down side is the players will be collateral damage.

Let it be heard loud and clear Bomber players: we do not hold you responsible for the debacle this team has become.

Maybe not today. Or tomorrow. But mark my words. This loose cannon will be fired sooner than later. And he will be remembered for this BS.

Maybe Bomber fans will be lucky though and Kelly turns the team around. That'll simply up the arrogance quotient though. And you can bet the GM will grow weary of that game.
