The chief of a northern Manitoba First Nation said Friday morning that a group of renegade protesters want two demands met before they will end their blockade to the Wuskwatim dam.
"I can’t tell you what they are," said Jimmy Moore, chief of the Nisichawayasihk Cree Nation, who spoke with the block organizers late yesterday.
"It’s premature. I still have to talk to a few people."
The blockade was set up Thursday, keeping trapped as many as 800 Manitoba Hydro workers inside a work camp......

Does the work camp not have a helicopter to get around the blockade, or a bulldozer to smash it?

Are the renegades just practicing their dam-building skills, hoping to get hired?

How much time does the chief get to negotiate with his people before this gets escalated?

Listening to NCI just now. People are being allowed to walk out but no equipment is being allowed to pass.

Also.. the agreement states that 1/3 of the workers must be aboriginal and apparently of the 800ish workers over 300 are native.

Hydro said the camp was self-sufficient and this doesn't make them worry at all.

Yeah but the workers who were supposed to come home this weekend after 28 days on?

These terrorist tactics need to stop. We need to send in a proper response and let EVERYONE know that holding other Canadians hostage or preventing their mobility will not be tolerated. This goes for all groups not just Natives.

Morons on the freep site are saying they are not terrorist because they have not physically harmed anyone yet.

I bet if someone were to try to drive out, running into a blocked road might hurt a little bit.
