The whole idea of walking to Ottawa , seems to me to be a real dumb idea, because Ottawa is what 1500 miles away, and what 25 miles a day walking? She will get there in 60 days? Does she have a publicity entourage, getting locals out to supprt her theme walk?

The 26-year-old Anishinabe woman will be walking to Ottawa from Winnipeg to show support for aboriginal mothers and children hurt by the child welfare system.
"The purpose of my walk is to help begin the healing process for aboriginal families who have been affected by their children being put in care," she wrote.
"It is believed the current child welfare system is not working and there are more aboriginal children in care than there ever were children in residential schools. So the system needs to change.

I see nothing wrong with the walk....if she gets the public behind her and especially the Native hoi polloi.....there are many examples of folks going out on quests, walks what have you, sometimes for a cause and oft-times to begin a meditative process (nothing wrong with that) - a process that has a tradition within some First nations cultures.....now the kicker would be if others were to join her....that would be something special.

I think if one has a breakfast at Sals and discusses how to save Winnipeg, manitoba, Canada, and the World, that is good enough! lol

At our recent lunch meeting at oscar's we solved a good many problems! Too bad we had to go back to work!
next week at the barbeque, Sunday Aug 9th , friends and family are all welcome, we will try and have Katz, Asper, Doer and Harper all there in seperate corners of my wife's magnificent garden answering to their many "poor" programs. Triniman is claiming 1st crack at Asper, and has reserved 1 1/2 hours!

Yes what is the big deal it is her life , after all. I think this form of protest is rather over used now though .
