interesting article in the freep yesterday

it alluded to the fact that internet providers are looking to the CRTC for clarification on prioritizing and managing internet bandwidth it also said that 60 percent of Canadians were okay with it according to their poll of 1000

And yet... the freeps poll today has 85% of peopel against it with 899 voting so far.

Most likely pulling the scam of forcing those of us with a need for speed and higher bandwidth to have to upgrade to a professional and or business package....this shite has been going on since DSL became available in this city. Our home was one of the first 300 to get hooked up and over the years I have seen our speed and downloadability efficiency drop....I have been told countless times to upgrade to a business setup....hmmmm.

I think its more to do with corperations getting premium speed on their websites. Its like paying extra so you don't have your customers waiting in line (if that makes sense)

Bandwidth shaping is bad for all. I have to question who they talked to in the original poll as well, and how the question was phrased.

If they would cut down on the video feed from the TV networks and you tube so Iam told they would not have to do this . As video takes up huge space on a limited amount of space . So I heard .

Or, if they had actualy upgraded their networks the past 10 years when everyone with a brain could see this coming they wouldn't have to do this. But it's much easier to sit on profits than upgrade infrastruture to meet demand. It's so much easier to just gradually provide less service for the same cost as demand increases, than actually increase supply to meet the demand.

But c'mon guys....won't someone please think of the poor suffering telco's? How are they supposed to continue rake in tens of millions of dollars by threatening their users and suggesting they purchase a business type plan? Infrastructure upgrades? Isn't that what the "system access fee" is supposed to pay for.....oh wait, they haven't started charging that yet.....but just wait, if they could get away with it in the cell phone realm, it'll move along to the other services that...shockingly enough, use the EXACT SAME farking network!!!

Remember, the internet is not just some big truck that you could dump stuff onto...the tubes get clogged every now and again!
