so... if I am reading this correctly, the city of toronto provides day care service?

http://cnews.canoe.ca/CNEWS/Canada/2009/06/21/9879866-cp.html

Can anyone confirm that???? ( and then tell me why the hell a city is running daycares?)

I lived through the last garbage strike in Toronto. Pretty nasty business that. I was very fortunate that I lived in a Suburb that had private collection and was not personally affected at home.

Don't know about day care though.

The City should get everyone on social assisstance out to work, and the city should try and pay their worker's a living wage, so they don't have to go on strike every time the contract comes up for renewal.
Damn those Unions , trying to get more money for unskilled workers!

apparently Hamilton has been on strike since April as well.

Hamilton's reason for striking?

Protect post retirement benefits for new workers.

about 1600ish workers right now from what I can tell.

Who for 11 weeks now have given up their pay.
lets go with $1000 per week per worker.

1000x11x1600=$17 600 000.00 that they have gone without.

Thats alot to go without.

Mountains of rotting garbage in the streets of Toronto. So what difference does the strike really make?
