We dropped in there last summer and spent an afternoon checking out all the neat old suff.

It's a flea market...what else can you say...a lot of junk with some treasures scattered within. (One man's junk can be another's treasure afterall eh.)

Worthwhile place to vist imo.

If you want to attend a flea market a much better one is "Thirsty's" at the corner of either Erin and Ellice or Wall and Ellice, can't ever remember! They take up the whole basement of the building, all kinds of neat goodies down there, anything from vinyl records to branding irons.
EDIT: I just looked it up on the web, the correct address is 1111 Ellice, phone 783-9800

If you think the Mulvey market is better than Thirsty's...then I wouldn't bother with the Mulvey one either.

I've been to the one at Thirsty's...and it's TERRRRIIIBBBBLLLLEEE!!!! (did I make that big enough)?

Most of it is crap that looks like someone scooped out of a back lane trash can on their way in, or forgot to throw away when when they cleaned the litter box.

While I understand the availability of flea markets is limited here in Winnipeg...I truly feel sorry for the selection.

If you want to go to a REAL flea market...let me know and I'll send you a map to some of the best in North America...of which more than half are in New Jersey. The flea markets in New Jersey span several ACRES of land...and the selection and prices are actually good...not (typically) overpriced garbage from the Brady Five & Dime.

Went today and it seemed hit and miss, and a third empty.

You could tell some vendors actually sold stuff, and some were there to have their 'collections' simply out on display. A gentleman selling miscellanious tools seemed very knowledgable and a few sports things and a couple toy related, other than that it was a whole bunch of severely outdated worthless china, cheap jewelery and a lungfull of dust.

I've been to the ellice and wall one years ago and remember it better than the mulvey, will report once i return.

I prefer the Mulvey flea market to Thirsty's, although back in the day
I much preferred the Maples flea market, at least until they reduced
its size (again...) to make way for the Punjabi Banquet Hall.

nope.
I was there last weekend since it's by my place. Nothing too interesting, and a lot of the booths are overpriced.

I think the Punjabi Banquet Hall is more interesting than both flea markets!
JTF sorry to hear your wife stuck you in your garden!

As someone who has worked many flea markets I have to say the Mulvey one is run by an absolute control freak and the merchants currently in that market are somewhat predatory, lots of overpriced goods (no real antiques, just a lot of stuff from down by the river)...the greatest asset in that place is the public sink where a ton of muddy and stained stuff is washed off and presented for public consumption...very expensive for locals to take a booth. Its up to $400 a month, sometimes more if you need big space and it only goes from 10-4 on weekends....security is non-existent and the poor kids from the group homes with a sawbuck in their jeans are always hassled by a few select merchants to by garbage for their $10...kinda sad.
The North End Market used to be great but its a pain now. Thirsty's on Ellice is in a dimly lit basement and one guy seems to own about half the space with a few mouthy yokels running smaller booths. A few bargains still abound in Thirsty's but there's few bargains at Mulvey.
If you're in the Mulvey/Osborne area you should check out the 3 or 4 antique shops that are on the other side of the Burger king, including the Dairy Queen Mall, Vintage in the Village (behind the jeweller) and the Osborne Bookshop and VInyl Centre (in that big brick building at confusion corner) with the WK Chan sign on top of it. And all these places are open Monday thru Saturday, don't know about Sundays.

I was a vendor there previously and for the rent price there is really no accomedations
No internet, The Bank machine Was down pretty much the whole time, i sold a few thing's here and there but the traffic is all senior's who dont buy anything anything, it certainly isnt as busy as the owner claim's and he only seem's to be interested in how much the canteen makes ,

thats just bad for business, Maybe when they get rid of the rediculess music in there i would go back ,
Its a nice venue . but to hidden, i think thats how he likes it .

Thirsty's Flea Market & Auction at #1111 Ellice has improved Greatly in the last Six Weeks. It has gone from half empty to FULL. All the Vendors from the closed Mandaly Market have moved in, along with other new Vendors. It is centrally Located between Downtown & close to Polo Park Mall in a decent area. Most sellers are set up in Clean & Cool booths. The place is full of actual cool Collectibles, Antiques, Movies, Games & all kinds of desirable items. [NOT a lot of Garage Sale junk like other Flea Markets]; In addition, they now have a Monthly Auction with neat & desirable Comics, Antiques, Signs & other Collectibles. If you are interested in Collectibles, this is the new #1 Flea Market destination in Winnipeg. If you have not visited since August 2011, give it another try, you will be pleasantly surprised.
