I've had a couple of interactions with the system lately and find it has improved greatly.

A bFI bin was half-way into the lane near my house, so I called 311.

Waited a couple of minutes. Person took all the info and was very polite. Gave me a reference number. Call ended.

The next morning I got a call from BFI. Nice guy on the phone asked a few questions. We chatted about the lake for 20 minutes.

The bin was moved back into place the next day.

Worked for me.

The media course taught me that I didn't want anything to do with the media. Its their job to create controversy, even when none exists. Bad news sells better than good news. I would be more inclined to tell a reporter to frick off, which would not hold well with the organization I work for.

I checked with 311, and their problem is 5950 calls per day are coming dfom someone called DeanK! lol!
