Very interesting award for Canada, especially since Ontario has capped the awards at $1,000,000, and this is the appeal court who upheld the award.
I wonder who the MP'S were thinking about by capping the damages?

A jury's $17 million award has been upheld for a Toronto man who ran a red light and crashed into a delivery truck turning left into his path.
Marcoccia's lawyer says the award, including nearly $14 million for future care, is the largest personal-injury award in Canadian history, topping an earlier $13 million award she won for a client.
"What is really good, what this stands for, is that we are still in a compensation system," said Nancy Ralph, who was hired by the plaintiff's mother.
