Not too sounds like an asshole or anything, but exactly how is this a rape law? Shouldn;t the wife be wanting to have sex with her husband?

Its a crazy law to be sure, hell every wife or husband should be able to receive sex whenever they want without it being forced into law. But to call it a rape law? Is that really the case?

There are a lot of factors to consider. Did both parties enter the marriage willingly? Is there mutual interest in sex? If there isn't, should a man be able to demand sex from a woman?

If your wife didn't want to have sex at least once every four days, would you force her to have sex with you, Deank? When you put this "law" into a western context, it's obvious to me that it's just not right.

Forcible sex = rape.

Time for the marriage to be ended if the wife or husband does not WANT to have sex at least every 4 days

Considering that the protesting women were pelted with stones, I am not sure human rights are high up there. Perhaps women were being raped in marriage and finally gathering together and speaking out about it, so a law had to be passed to make the mens' actions legal?

This doesn't really seem like a fluff issue to me.

To the rest of the world, it looks like an urgent law was passed, but according the following article, it was three years in the making. It was also passed quietly and only became an international spectacle when other groups picked up on it.

hmmm...well its not hard to understand how someone who lived under the Taliban would consider this a step forward for women.

but a statement such as this...just wow.
Mohseni argued that women and men are very far from equal in today's Afghanistan and should not be treated as such. He said many rural women are illiterate and would not be able to find work. Men are typically expected to provide for their wives and children.

no, just do not feel like revisiting it today.....this is why I was reluctant to add to the discussion yesterday....i have much to say about that part of the world, about greed, about misogyny.....very painful topic areas and as you can see I get angry about this sort of stuff....does bring back some bad memories

everything in ones past makes you what you are today. Changing even one thing could have drastic differences. For instance.. if I tried harder and ended up with my wife straight out of high school instead of 2 years later... would my kids that I have now exist?

so no matter how painful something was... would you still want to change it, knowing you most likely would not be who you are today?

I think that the downfall of Western Civilization started in canada in 1921 when some women in Canada were given the vote!
