What are some good spots for lunch in the downtown, that let's me minimize my expenditure, yet not settle for a hot dog out of the cart.....

Can anyone compete with Subway's sub of the day? $3.35 including tax for a 6"

Pilot, me and you work near the Princess Grill @ McDermot and Princess.....ever been there? Its not so cheap but oh sooooo good. I have developed a serious addiction to their toasted cinnamon buns for my morning coffee break

I haven't been there since it was the Big Bang Cafe... home of the Big Bean Burrito.

I will have to check up on those cinnamon buns tho.

You want cheap? Go to Bleachers! You can get a HUGE burger and piles of fries CHEAP. Good food too. They also have BIG salads. I am impressed by them and call the place "The Dive" ... I am not near there anymore, sadly.... :-(

Subway is a bready disaster. I eat way too much of that junk. Those people call themselves 'artists' ... pfffft! A real artist would pour himself into his work. I would be able to taste his love and sweat and blood in the food. I taste no love. I taste no creative juices!

Bleachers is in a seedy looking joint, but don't be turned off by the clientele or the ambience. It is close to Portage and Main.... um... you know where the Winnipeg Square is? Across Fort. There is a legion near it. I guess close to the corner of portage and fort would be a better description of the location. There is a sign that says Bleachers.

Check it out. I usually get the TEAM burger. There are 2 sides to the place. A side that is small with tables and seats and a cute waitress I miss... and a side that has VLT's and such in it.

I was surprised how good it was.

I miss 'greasy spoons'. I am always looking for new and interesting mom and pop places with the burgers, fries and such. Also, always looking for a good rueben. I love those. And good soups!

I also like Soup Pierre, but not as cheap. There is also the Post Office. I never ate there but apparently it is cheap.

And Mitzies I really like.

post office is sorta cheap.. depends what you get... but definately is good food.

oscar's deli makes a pretty good Reuben and some damn fine soup ( on hargrave 1/2 block south of St mary).. heh,, make sure to order a cheeseburger with extra bacon...that will go over real well.

Greasy spoons are fine eating establishments. I just might give Bleachers a try next week. Deank you up for that?

On the opposite end of the spectrum was Kum Koon Gardens this afternoon. Man that is wonderful food. But expensive. I only ate one or two entrees and it cost me $20. My lunch mate ate the other 32 entrees...

Could anyone imagine Dean doing a call centre operator?
"Ma'am! You accept this contract or I'll friggen roast your poodle!"
or
"Sir, I'd suggest you sign the papers I'm sending you, or else you'll receive 98 lamps in the mail for ONLY $10,000.00."
