I dunno.. I have seen some pretty ignorant people stay in their lane no matter how much the ambulance/cop/fire truck behind them was honking thier horn

When I make a call to directory assistance, telus, MTS, etc. I always mumble incoherently during the voice prompts. I find that I get a live agent way faster that way. There is nothing more frustrating than naming a business, and getting the number to something completely unrelated, and having to start over. My method saves you time.

send an e-mail to the mayors office- less time - Tell him you are tired of waiting on hold for 15 minutes and you know he will look after it! lol

actually...if you don't do anything...ie. don't press any numbers or speak...it will usually transfer you to an agent too.

A difference between where they learned.

When I was taught to drive...we were taught DON'T MOVE. Just park as far out of the way as possible, and DON'T MOVE.

If they came up behind you, and you were already stopped...you still shouldn't move if possible. And definitely don't pull out into possible cross-traffic to make way.

I know that's not how you're taught here...but it is in other parts of the world.

Bit of side-trivia for you...did you know that in many states in the US...it is illegal for ANY commonly used vehicle (emergency or otherwise) to go through a red light...even with their lights flashing. That is, except for a mail truck...it's a federally licensed vehicle.
(other vehicles like military, fbi, etc. are exempt as well...but they aren't "commonly used"...they are usually only brought out for specific tasks).

actually...they can't...too much risk of someone being able to misuse it.

what it actually does is sends a signal back to their dispatch office which has to approve the transmission and changes the lights for them...then the device is disabled once they've completed the call.

nope... trust me.. the device is 1500 per vehicle and is federally licensed...anyone caught using it illegally is fined an extrem amount and subject o 5 years in jail. posession is the same charge.

news to me...i know there have been rumours of them being brought in...but the light systems are not built on a "remote" system...they are all "hard-wired" into a computer network...so unless someone activates through the network...it won't work.
