I've heard that Selkirk has struggles with crime issues for the past several decades; I don't think this is very new news. Both the police and townsfolk seem to be turning a blind eye to the situation. I'm going to likely get flak for this, but Selkirk used to be one of my territories when I worked as a Dutch Elm Disease Inspector for the Province, and I spoke to quite a few residents and they feel that the increase in crime has been associated with the increase in the aboriginal population from rough reserves over the years. No one can prove this, but that is what some people there believe.

I wonder what is happening on the reservations to drive the very busy aboriginal population to try drugs? This is such shocking news, even when it was reported 43 years ago!
