Top 10 most-loved athletes in Winnipeg history Wpg Sun

Who would you include and exclude on this list?
I'd add Dale Howerchuck and Thomas Steen. Not sure who I'd drop, though. Maybe Toews and Hedberg.

1. Teemu Selanne

The Finnish Flash could have run for mayor — and won.

2. Ken Ploen

Anyone who wins four Grey Cups is going to be loved.

3. Bobby Hull

The Golden Jet signed autographs until the cows came home.

4. Milt Stegall

Turtle Man was revered for his magical hands on Maroon Road.

5. Billy Mosienko

North End star for the Chicago Blackhawks was a hero to many.

6. Jonathan Toews

Olympic gold and Stanley Cup winner is the new generation’s star.

7. Vic Peters

The 1992 Brier champ had the talent and the charisma.

8. Cindy Klassen

The queen of the 2006 Winter Olympics had Winnipeggers beaming.

9. Joe Poplawski

Helped end 22-year Grey Cup drought in ’84 and remained in Winnipeg.

10. Anders Hedberg

A quiet and unassuming star, which related well with Manitobans

That's what I said. Dale's a shoe-in, among the top 5, IMHO.
