I'm telling you as bad as the Winnipeg sun has lowered their journalistic standards it's almost as if the free press is in the same free-fall lockstep...

I believe that journalists today have to bid on how cheap they will work for the newspapers. The cheapest gets the job, and that includes only partly investigating stories, from their land phone line!

With the growth of internet news sources - how long before newspapers are a thing of the past anyway? It won't be long before people think of 500 trees worth of paper being distributed daily as something from a bygone era. Kind of like the typewriter. Soon to be a thing of the past.

I don't think I'll see the disappearance of an actual paper newspaper in my lifetime. The delivery medium will change though. And in time, so will the paper newspaper.

There are some newspapers like the Wpg Free Press that are getting more profitable, probably because they are on top of all ways of making more money, including the internet!

About 500 copies of Margaret Atwood's new book have been printed on paper made from wheat straw, flax straw and pulp from recycled paper.
