Did ya read about those roadside corn merchants sayin' they were selling Morden corn when in fact it was from the US? They quickly took down their "Morden" signs...

read about it where?

I know I complained about it several times. Never read about it though, was kinda wondering how exactly corn could be grown and available on July 1.

yeah...but they put up signs that said "local" which is still a lie.

I have, for the past several years, stopped at many roadside stands for corn...but this year I am boycotting them due to their dishonesty.

I wanted to go to the festival this year, but I will be on a beach in TO instead for the weekend...maybe next year.

and technically..

Morden is a registered type of corn so you could theoretically be selling Morden corn grown in Texas I guess.

still pretty dishonest, but if anyone honestly believed that in July you were eating fresh corn grown in Morden... then perhaps you deserved whatcha got.

It was covered in the news recently. I think CTV had a piece. Not sure where else you'd have seen it.

There is across the street from where I live, on Roblin Blvd, each weekend "corn from Morden" pick up truck selling. In July they were there , but it was ridiculous- "corn from Morden", which I interpreted as we bought this from Wpg wholesalers, trucked it to Morden and then brought it back to Wpg. lol

J&H Market Garden on Roblin Blvd has the best tasting local produce- You have to see the throng of clients in there at all times of the day, and then you will understand that by selling only the best tasting vegetables, tomatoes ,cucumbers, etc., grown locally, has created a huge success for this store.
