An accomplishment is exaclty that, an accomplishment. Saying and starting a rapid transit route isn't an accomplishment. Inaugurating a rapid transit route is an accomplishment.
Why does Winnipeg need so many apartments? Is it maybe because housing has become too expensive for most peeps?
So, 4 years have gone, as he says, but he didn't mention anything finished in 2008 or to be finished in 2009.
He says the aboriginal problem has to be dealt with. That's certainly nothing new.
I don't know the mayor, nor his background, but I've seen worse, and better mayors around. I think he either lacks support, or he's just taking it easy.
A mayor should take on more responsabilities.
Just my 2 cents, after I listened to the interview.

The biggest problem is the mayor really has no real power to take things where he wants , he has to kiss and codell all the others for it .

I must have seen a different video than those of you that have criticized Mayor Sam!

I see a guy, underpaid for the job, contributing to building a better city!
All he gets from the media is a slanted reporting system, and all he gets is invalid criticism from these forums because these forums are aimed at misinformation and favoring those that slander!
That is why I love these forums!

umm... the video in this case is unedited. Slanted reporting would be where they put words into his mouth. Not just let him speak.

I looked at the video and saw a caring mayor, trying to bring "his vision" to Winnipeg!
Any criticism would be that "his vision" is wrong, but that cannot be true because he is the elected Mayor, and as such has been elected to bring "his vision" into force!

What in the interview shows him to be doing a poor job??
What is everyone's criticism?

I've never been one to see any "vision" come out of Katz.

Imho, he's just a "Maintenance Mayor" that, hopefully, won't screw things up too much for the next Real Mayor.

Who was the last "real" mayor?

Plenty of people believed that Katz had vision. He was practically a last minute candidate but he won.

What exactly that vision was or is, I don't know. But every political leader believes that they have "vision.'

Actually...the part that I found funny was his obvious blame for the problems in Winnipeg on the Indians.

When asked about the "biggest" problem he faces, he responded with "Look at Headingly, Look at Stony Mountain. See the biggest populations there?"

And then kept going with "They're coming off the reserves..."

While I'm sure most of his "supporters" might feel the same way...he's certainly not winning any points with the aboriginals in Winnipeg with those comments.

Those comments are probably the most honest assessment of our biggest problem here in the city....the elephant in the room that nobody wishes to address.

But Evil Doer has the answer. He will provide all kinds of training initiatives that don't currently exist. He forgets one thing though. You can lead a horse to water you can't make it drink...
