Do ya suppose if re-elected )God forbid) the ndp will trot out another useless person to run their most important portfolio?

Good riddance to one of the most incompetent politicians in recent memory.

After 11 years in power, who actually believes the public will choose the ndp over the cons? Not a snowball's chance in hell.

Well, let's hope people will have smartened up....but we must remember that Pat Martin keeps getting elected (dispite not really living in the province).

Althought the recent polls indicated a tie between the Commies and the Conservatives, I doubt that the Commies will get in again.

I saw Annita Neville in Safeway's parking lot the other day....and the NDP look pretty much like she now does....tired, old and past the best-before date.

Sorry, but I can't justify voting for a party that at the federal level is doing it's best to pass Orwelian style spy laws under the disguise of copyright protection laws. The "Lawfull Access" bills show the Conservatives true colours and they're not pretty. I'd rather vote for the commie bastards that are open about who they are, than the fasiscts who claim otherwise. I've seen first hand where these types of measures end up and it's not a place any Canadian should want to go willingly.

Also, as a side point I bumped into Hugh the other day at Timmies and all I can say is what a tool. Sellinger is no brainiac but I swear listening to Hughie boy talking to some obvious supporters I never heard the man say anything but "ya,ya,ya....aha,aha,aha" for 5 minutes straight. All the while he was bobbing up and down like a bobble head. They really, really need a new leader. I can't see who in their right mind would vote for a party led by him regardless what their political ideology is.

A billion dollar (and growing) deficit does not concern you?

"I don't like that leader so I'm going to ignore this billion dollar deficit with no plan to shrink it and vote for that guy?" Who is in their right mind?

It absolutely does, but not enough to vote for a party I just plain and simply don't trust and whose ideology I could not disagree with more. The Lawfull Access bill is just the latest in a series of steps in which the current Conservatives (really Reform and Canadian Alliance) are adopting the policies of the far-right wing neo-cons to the south. I have zero interest in giving up any personal freedoms under the pretense of security wether it be to a government at the Federal or Provincial level.

I also have a far different perspective on what should be done about the provincial deficit than any Conservative party member. I highly doubt that any of their candidates share my point of view. Therefore the only logical option for me, and many others is the current crop of commie bastards even if they are far less than ideal. Finance's alone are not enough reason to vote for one party over another IMHO. Beside's the Conservative's have as of late proven to be anything but at the federal level. What makes me think they'll do any better at the provincial level?

Besides I'm tried of watching the NDP/Conservative see-saw of spending cuts/spending increases that has been going on in this province for 30 years. One party gets in power and slashes and burns their way to a surplus only to be ousted by people demanding better services, then the next comes in and increases spending for a decade to make up for the cuts, then they get booted for being fiscally irresponsible, then the cycle repeats. No win situation. Ideally what is need is a middle ground that is stable and long term. Thats never going to happen with 4 year voting cycles. So, I'm left again with who do I trust...or more correctly who do I distrust the least?

The answer is not the Conservatives, and I'm not alone with that opinion.

Just my 2 cents.

All the while he was bobbing up and down like a bobble head eh.

Well, at least he was listening to the people as opposed to some Nippers I've seen that do the same thing while all alone. Smile

But seriously, listening to people is much better than talking to them in that context. Afterall, isn't that what it's all about?

Hmmmm.....Seems like rats fleeing the sinking ship to me.I'm wondering if they have f'd the provincial coffers so badly that some don't want to get re-elected and have to deal with their mess and if Conservatives get elected then have them point fingers for four years.

Finances aren't enough huh? How about constant lying, inability to point to anything positive you have done, still blaming a government of 12 years ago for problems. If you can' fix anything in 12 years, then resign.

On a side note I got a lovely NDP election propoganda mailing from my retiring ( and most useless tool in the Legislature)NDP MLA. I'm torn though, do I vote for the invisible Conservative candidate? Or the very competent Liberal candidate who has been everywhere in the public eye for the last year?

Vote Liberal if you think they have a chance of forming the next government.

Otherwise it's a wasted vote imo.

However, isn't it time for another Conservative government?

Does anyone expect effective leadership from any party? I thought the 10 years in and then out for 10 years was the normal?
We had great representation from the Conservatives for 10 years and now the NDP are having their turn.
Who cares about the Hydro extra expense of $1 billion dollars to get some new "possible" rating for a boreal forrest? We know that once we get that rating there may be 3 extra couples to try and come to Manitoba to see it, and they will each sped $20 for 1 night each at a Provincial campsite, and another $50 for food and $60 for gasoline.
That is what the COST/BENEFIT study showed! lol

It seems, for a newly elected party, the first two years are devoted to straightening a few things out (replacing key people), and the next coupla' years, doing things to get re-elected.

Rinse. Repeat.

Hydro profits (cough cough) could be used to create another Banff in this pristine area (another cough cough) to boost those rates to, at least, $22 for the campsite. Wink

Hmmmm....now there's an idea....

....build an enormous mountain from the digging done to make an enormous hole (deep water lake) to hold all the water we are blessed with now and in the future if it comes.

We can stock it with 'sea monsters' and start rumours about it.

We'll be a have-province in no time. Wink
