True North calls press conference for this morning

True North Sports and Entertainment told the Free Press this morning that negotiations to buy and relocate the Atlanta Thrashers have not been finalized but are expected to be. They have called an 11 a.m. press conference.

Lawyers representing True North, the NHL and Atlanta Spirit Group worked through the night to reach a deal.

Media from across the country have flown into Winnipeg and NHL commissioner Gary Bettman is also en route.

Bettman is due in Vancouver for the start of the Stanley Cup on Wednesday.

The Free Press is following this story and will provide details as they become available.

True North Sports and Entertainment has told the Free Press, as of
9:45 a.m., that they have finalized the agreement to purchase the
Altanta Thrashers and relocate them to Winnipeg.

The deal was not finalized until sometime after 9:30 a.m. when signatures and all technicalities were put to rest.
