thats just session 3.. check out session 1 and 2.. its disgraceful

do some playing with the way to list and see the sea of blue when you look at absences.

look at the sea of orange when you sort it by bills tabled... that should be RED since they are the official opposition. Its like the Libs decided to not even bother attending

Libs have been phoning it in since CSL-Martin jumped for the life rafts.

NDP'ers have been more focused and organized...it starts with having a leader, someone the party faithful can identify with. The NDP and the Conservatives have such a person. The libs...well, yeah, never mind!

since the Con dont stand a hope in hell in Winnipeg North I would almost consider voting NDP... if there representative was anyone but Miss blackie.

I live in Elmwood, and I do not identify with any single political party.

Should I bother to vote at all, considering Maloway will win with or without my help?

I used to vote for the candidate, recently I've been voting to show Blakie/Maloway they don't have the entire constituency's support...but in the big picture that means absolutely nothing and is redundant.

This is starting to feel like groundhog day...

Perhaps the same idea has occured to others but differs in them thinking a Tory will have a chance.

you know JTF if they at least ran a candidate that had any idea about the riding and did anything in the riding, maybe some door to door and actually spoke up and such.. they would stand a chance.

She is not in the riding
She does not answer emails

I dont have the time nor the drive to BEG a candidate to allow me to vote for them.

Until such time as the cons respect Winnipeg North, Winnipeg North wont respect or elect a con.

It would be a simple fix if they could get it through.

A simple "majority vote of those present" would solve all the problems in one sweep.

It would then be a true sense of "Democracy", as any election is. As a candidate does not get voted in by a majority of available voters, it's a majority of those who show up to vote.

So any bill being presented should get passed by those who show up. And if the Liberals decide they don't want to show up...then they should have nothing to complain about when bills get passed due to their absence.

umm.. that is how our bills work.. majority of those present.

Problem is the Libs were basically saying.. we dont agree with Con bills... BUT....we dont want to bring the government down because we know we will be decimated at the polls sooo.... we just wont show up to vote.

That's why it will continue to be represented by goofs that just sit in the back row and bobble their heads.

then i'm confused...and misunderstanding the problem here.

Quite honestly...if they don't show up to vote...they have nothing to complain about.

And to answer the thread question...the answer should be "1".

A missed vote should have a fine levied against that MP for failure to do their job.

Certain exceptions may be applied, provided they are in writing, and meet other criteria:
Doctor's note, family emergency, state of emergency in their area, etc....but just a "no-show"...issue the fine.

And then, miss more than (I'd use a percentage rather than a number) say 10% of all the votes...they are no longer eligible to run for office.

Nothing wrong with that part of the system. I have a clear picture in my mind of Dion and the Liberals walking out on a vote. There was nothing else that they could do , was there?
That is why the Conservatives , under Harper, had my vote! They ran the show as if they had a majority to get their bills through parliament.
I don't think someone has to be there to vote to collect their paycheck. If it was important there would be a rule!

We need an overhaul of the political process in general. I ust watched the debate on Youtube (missed it last night). Now more than ever I demand that the Bloc not be allowed on that stage. Christ - talking about how Quebec wants to be "it's own country". What a disgrace that nobody addresses this. I suspect once Harper has a majority - things like that will be clearly stated.
