Well colour me surprised. The CBC has shown a decided liberal slant, and been caugy at it. Here they go again! Yet another reason to pull all public finding from these assclowns...

KINGSTON, Ont. — The CBC appears to have a new spin on the old joke about the answer to all multiple choice questions being "C". This time the answer is usually "G", as in Grit.

Queen's University political science professor Kathy Brock says the state broadcaster's Vote Compass online survey tool is flawed and tells people they're Liberal by default.

Vote Compass, a 30-question survey on the CBC's website, is supposed to show Canadians which party's political views are most like their own.

Brock said she completed the survey three times using three distinct strategies, and was aligned each time with the Liberal party.

"If you're giving opposite responses and getting the same result, that's not correct," she said.

Read story here.

Take survey here.

In my first survey I answered strongly agree to everything. I am a liberal.
In my second survey I answered strongly disagree to everything. I am a liberal.
In the third survey I took a position right down the middle. Yup. I'm a liberal.

I had the EXACT same results in all three surveys.

Finally, I took an aggressive anti-liberal approach and still I'm a liberal.

Really? I did it once, voting honestly - and I came up firmly Conservative.

Well! Maybe honesty is the key! I'll give that a try...

Nope. Still a liberal.

Well, after doing the silly survey, I'm happy to report that I'm still a Conservative. Whew!

I thought for a moment that I would have to shoot myself.

Nygard battles CBC

Fashion mogul plans criminal case against state broadcaster for defamation

The Sun has learned the millionaire will file the private criminal prosecution as soon as today, almost a year after the CBCs Fifth Estate broadcast a documentary about Nygard’s escapades at his sprawling Lyford Cay resort in the Bahamas.
The report featured an interview with Allan and Michelle May, who briefly worked at the resort and were highly critical of Nygard. The Sun has learned an arrest warrant has recently been issued for the couple after failing to pay back a US$189,000 fine for civil fraud levelled against them in April 2009, a year before the documentary first went to air.
“We are appalled by the calculated actions of the CBC,” said a London-based spokesman for Nygard International. “We have and will continue to vigorously defend our brand.”
Jeff Keay, a spokesman for the CBC, declined comment.

Heh. I saw that. There is a Nygard conspiracy...

Well, as I understand it, the CBC aired their story dispite having full knowledge that the accusations were untrue. That is why it is criminal and not civil.

I hope the cbc gets nailed to the cross then.

More reason to cut these asshats off...

Ha that's funny. I wasn't implying that you weren't being honest - just that it somehow worked for me (Conservative result). Grumpy I hope this doesn't mean you're a Liberal and just don't realize it yet. That's the message of the Liberal campaign - wake up people - you're Liberal - and it's time to recognize that. It wouldn't surprise me to know the CBC did produce a skewed voting method. That is dastardly.

I do believe that if you hit undecided it automatically defaults to Liberal.

Caugy, is that a CBC term?

Sorry, just had to get even cause you make fun of my typos.

Anyway, should the CBC just be prohibited from election coverage, seeing as they have a vested interest in the results?

How does the Green Party not have a position at the debate and the Bloc does? One is a national party and the other isn't. Anybody able to explain this? Besides, she was there last debate - why the change and who made it? The Green Party has more of a claim to be there than a provincial separatist party. I know this is an old discussion but what's the newest spin on this decision - I haven't heard.

Ditto. I am so firmly entrenched, even the CBC couldn't sway me.

I just lied on every question and now I'm NDP. I should put that on a tee-shirt.

By BRIAN LILLEY, PARLIAMENTARY BUREAU

OTTAWA - CBC is not taking any blame for claims that its online voter tool is rigged in favour of the Liberals.

The state broadcaster has partnered with a group of political scientists, mostly from the University of Toronto, to develop an online tool that tells voters which party their views are closest to. Despite claims the tool is rigged, CBC is standing by the online application and continuing to push the public to use it.

In an e-mail message, a spokesman for CBC told QMI Agency that the state broadcaster had no role in the methodology behind the quiz. The academics behind Vote Compass maintain it is an accurate and that "the empirical evidence" doesn't support the claim of bias.

"Sure, if you want to game the tool you can answer questions in such a way that you will end up in the centre of the political landscape, and since - among the 30 statements included in Vote Compass - the Liberal Party is closest to the centre, you will appear closest to the Liberal Party," said Clifton van der Linden, the PhD candidate running Vote Compass.

Some well-known Conservatives, though, say the test is pegging them as Liberals. Guy Giorno, the Conservative campaign chairman and former chief of staff to Prime Minister Harper announced his Liberal leanings on Twitter.

"Even I took Vote Compass test and got Liberal," Giorno tweeted.

While Vote Compass puts the Liberals in the centre, it puts the Conservatives in the bottom right quadrant of their political graph, painting the party as both social and fiscal conservatives. University of Calgary political science professor Barry Cooper said that's not where the Conservatives belong.

"They are extremely centrist," said Cooper. "They are about as centrist as you can get."

Cooper points to the Harper government's deficit spending and lack of movement on social issues to show that they are not overly fiscally or socially conservative.

"About the only thing that the Harper government has done that would be unequivocally supported by small-c conservatives is supported the Canadian military," said Cooper.

The complaints about Vote Compass don't just come from the Conservatives.

The left-wing, mostly NDP supporting, website Rabble.ca has been complaining about problems with the Vote Compass for days. A headline on the site calls the online tool, "miscalibrated." Several comments on the website claim that users selected answers consistent with NDP positions and were told they were closest to the Green Party.

"It's great to see new initiatives that help get Canadians thinking about issues and politics," said NDP campaign spokesperson Kathleen Monk. "That being said, there does seem to be some problems. I mean, when Guy Giorno comes out as a Liberal, you have to think something has gone seriously wrong with your computer."

"New Democrats have been watching the Liberals on every side of every issue for years, so I can see why the program is a bit confused."
