Judges see it's about pain relief

"There is no medical consensus for this type of treatment. Therefore, we must rely on personal experience of the people involved in order to appreciate the benefits of marijuana use."
The result is that Quebec's auto insurance agency has been ordered to pay $5,000 to patient X. This will enable him to build a greenhouse in his home to grow marijuana, pay for water, electricity, plants and soil expenses. And he can smoke marijuana in his own home.

It's time we took an intelligent look at this weed. Well past the time imo to legalize it again.

One of my friends is a legal Medical Marijuana grower.

So I dont understand how an Insurance company cant be forced to pay to set up a guy to grow when the legal option out there is for them to get a medical script and go get the drugs from someone else.

Also ""There is no medical consensus for this type of treatment."

BULLSHIT... the medical community agrees that marijuana is an effective pain reliever.

Thats it, I'm moving to Quebec. I think they should provide me with a life time supply of premium scotch to help ease my pain.

Booze doesn't work the same as pot.

Growing your own is a better option than buying from legal suppliers as most of their stuff is about as good as the stuff around in the 60's...nowadays considered to be crap. Buying it from the underground is too expensive for some, so the alternative is 'grow ur own'.

JTF.. In Canada, ANYONE can be a legal supplier as long as they have someone who has a doctors prescription thingy.

Each grower can supply up to ten patients. (or was that restriction removed now maybe..)

You have to apply to the government to grow it I thought and you had to buy your seeds from them or their people. Maybe I'm wrong.

you do not have to buy seeds from them (because of the poor quality issue)

your application is essentially the same as the persons doctors script.

hehe.. the best part about the license is this.

Destruction of Marihuana

65. (1)
If an authorization to possess expires without being renewed or is
revoked, the holder shall destroy all marihuana in their possession.

(2)
If a licence to produce expires without being renewed or is revoked,
the holder of the licence shall discontinue production of marihuana and,
subject to section 66, destroy all marihuana in their possession.

(3)
Within 10 days after destroying the marihuana, the holder of the
authorization or the licence shall notify the Minister, in writing, of
the amount of marihuana destroyed.

66. (1)
If a personal-use production licence expires without being renewed but
the holder remains the holder of a valid authorization to possess, the
holder is not required to destroy dried marihuana that is not in excess
of the maximum quantity permitted under the authorization.

(2)
If a designated-person production licence expires without being renewed
but the authorization to possess on the basis of which the licence was
issued remains valid, the holder of the licence, before destroying
marihuana, may immediately transport, transfer, give or deliver directly
to the holder of the authorization not more than a quantity of dried
marihuana that results in the holder of the authorization being in
possession of the maximum quantity permitted under the authorization.

67. (1)
If a licence to produce is amended under section 47 or at the time of
the renewal to reflect a change in the production area, the holder of
the licence must destroy any marihuana plants in production under the
licence that are in excess of the maximum number of plants that may be
produced under the licence, as amended.

(2)
If a licence to produce is amended under section 47 or at the time of
the renewal to reflect a change in the production area, the holder of
the licence must destroy any dried marihuana kept under the licence that
is in excess of the maximum quantity of marihuana that may be kept
under the licence, as amended.

What does it say about where one must get seeds, if anything?

It provides for the ability of the government to hold seeds to supply to growers but the language does not demand that seed supply be given from them.

Cant find the court ruling that overturned that initial requirement from the government. But it was either the same one, or near the same time as the one that removed the one to one restriction.

I wonder what boneheads (white haired, male, right wing, hoilier than thou types) worked on those requirements?
Anyone got $5 to ask the Feds how many hours of legal time went into that small portion of idiocy?

Note rosie... it does not state the proper method of disposing of the marijuana. History shows that by far the most acceptable method of disposal of contraband material is to burn it.

I have it on good authority burning it is indeed the most efficient methodology.

Wow. The cops figure each plant is worth $1,100.

Don't the cops have to value the dope at what it is and not for what price it would (may) eventually be sold?

The cops busted this place and found 884 plants which they valued at $990,000.

Seems to me they pulled that number straight out of their asses.

Heh heh. Yup. Can't have a press conference without bigger and bigger numbers.

I think they've always valued drugs for their potential street price. Makes sense to me. The question s/b is $1100/plant a realistic value?

At what stage of growth are you talking about? That's my point. A little plant really doesn't have any value...lots of potential...but that's different.

The Police reports have always used appx $1000 per plant. That is why I am growing 6 plants right now, as I want to buy a used Van for about $5000.
