WINNIPEG - Marilyn Brick, the NDP MLA for St. Norbert, has announced she will not run in the Oct. 4 provincial election.
Brick, who has represented the constituency since 2003, said in a
press release that she decided to pursue other interests after
discussing her future with her husband.
The Progressive Conservatives and Liberals both nominated candidates to challenge Brick last year.
The Conservatives are pinning their hopes on Karen Velthuys, executive director of the South Winnipeg Family Information Centre.
The Liberals have named former Conservative MLA Marcel Laurendeau as
their candidate. Laurendeau represented St. Norbert in the legislature
for 13 years until losing to Brick in 2003.
