Yup. He finally has left Cairo with his family (and about $60 Billion I reckon) and turned power over to the military.

A historic moment, yes. Just watch when new jobs don't materialize as quickly as the under and unemployed would like. Who will they try to overthrow next?

People will have a false sense of hope. Just look at Obama's popularity ratings. Not so good. Expectations may have been way too high.

Agreed Trin.. Its going to be a VERY rocky few years in an extremely unstable area.

Will the be the shining example to overthrow all the other "oppressive" governments in the world? Maybe. But just look at russia 20 years after the fact. Has anything really changed or is it just different people getting richer off the backs of others?

True. It's interesting, though, that the recently richest man in Russia, is in jail. I'm not sure if that would have happened 20-30 years ago.

yeah,, he was a moron though, he thought he was above the political masters... instead of realizing he was only rich through their combined deceit

We do indeed live in interesting times.

Where will the Revolution 2.0 go next, do you figure? Wherever it goes in the Middle East, I sure hope they don't try to scrap with Israel. The road to improved quality of life is through stability and peace. Hopefully, the Middle East will get that.

Although I enjoy these revolutions by the people, perhaps they should have a plan in place befiore they overthrow anyone.

Seems to me the US is two stepping while trying to jive and are going to be less of an impact in the area. The Arab world may be setting itself up for extreme fundamentalism.

The one's to watch is Saudi Arabia and Syria, especially Saudi Arabia which is led by very fat cats who technically aren't rulers.

Not to worry.

The Americans and the Egyptian army are very much on the same page.

The Muslim Brotherhood has said they are not running candidates in the election to be held eventually, so I wouldn't expect some sort of radscal change to happen

One other very important factor in this Internet Revolution is that it is spearheaded by young people that are not radicalized by being isolated and kept ignorant from such isolation.

I think we're seeing something that we've never seen before.....a complete overthrow of a dictator in this way.

JTF you seem to be speaking of the US in glowing terms. They may be on the same page, meaning they've been on it , as with Saudi's, in oppressing the people who took to the streets.

Again, no plan, no follow through.

Don't misunderstand me. I'm not saying that the Americans are without sin in their relationship with Mubarak...but what would have been their option?

Their relationship with other Arab countries is the same...they're in bed with the lesser of the evils.

But, I think that we can anticipate many changes to the way things will be done in the middle east in the near future. I think we will be witnessing historic changes to the dynamics of political influences that have been deeply established.
