On one hand...I agree with Shoprite, though I have to ask the question...

Is it really any of their business?

They are paid to make cakes and decorate them. And if someone wants to write their kid's name on it, or write "God Save the Queen"...it's just writing, just letters, just words.

The state should have blocked the kid's names to begin with...but now those kids have those names (until they decide to change them), and whether the "public" agrees with it or not, it's just a name.

I would have decorated the cake for them. I don't buy into any of that white supremacy crap, I just don't want to see a kid punished for his/her parents' lack of brain matter.

I think Shoprite did the correct thing.

If it was my company, I'd tell these dickheads to leave my shop and never enter again or I would have them arrested for tresspassing...(well it's in the States so I could just blow them away I reckon Very Happy ).

I'd reserve the right to not deal with these people. If you let this kind of crap go without challenging it, you deserve to live with racist creeps.

A social worker friend of mine brought up a good point: The kid wouldn't care whether or not their name was on the cake - they probably can't even read yet!

The parents were likely looking to make the headlines so they could claim discrimination...

any business can refuse to serve anyone as long as the reason does not violate that particular countries hate/discrimination laws. In fact in several countries putting those name on a cake would be against the law... which is even more bizarre then this cake issue.
