She was on CBC the other day.....I think on the noon hour show. Poor girl, getting here when it was minus thirty!!!

A love letter to Winnipeg

I stood a couple of feet away from her, at the front of the stage, at last night's Weakerthans concert.

She was on the cover (I think) of the Free Press a couple of days ago, since she came to Winnipeg to see the band.

Word about how cool Winnipeg is seems to be spreading eh.

Last year it was the 3 from Vancouver who local peggabilly's fawned all over, forgot what their blog was called, but seems , 2 of the 3 skedaddled.

Now we get this one. Imagine, CBC, front page, you'd almost get the impression she was running for council.

Why is it that peggers have such a chip on their shoulders and go gaga over every "foreigner' who just says what a swell place this must be ?

Like, don't locals know what they Have ? Perhaps most do since they just go about their lives . But the problem is the vocal minority who want the peg to be some uber cosmo metro carbon copy of somewhere else. Never ceases to amaze me this pompom waving bunch.

Livio, of the last 38 out of town visitors who loved Winnipeg, 37 were found frozen to death outside the perimeter without their shoes and jacket , and the 39th was rolled and murdered in the North End!

It's a genuine good news story, something that marking campaigns can't buy.

I almost said hello to her at the Weatherthans Sat. show, but decided not to since I figured she was a bit overwhelmed with being recognized and being approached by so many others. Maybe one more wouldn't have hurt.

Some locals like me do know what we have but maybe there are the boring masses who claim that there is nothing to do in Winnipeg. I hate it when people say that. Life is what you make of it. If you're a boring, unimaginative person, then you'll be bored anywhere. If you're the opposite, then you'll have find opportunities to have a good time.

Personally, I can't ever hope to have enough time or money to enjoy all that Winnipeg has to offer right now. The glass is overflowing for me, not half-empty.

I am curious about how Andy feels about the Atlanta Thrashers moving to Winnipeg next season.
