out campaigning in the area around Health sciences centre

I noticed this group of houses all sitting there empty, grass cut nicely, houses kept up.. big signs saying dont deliver stuff here.

Correct me if I am wrong, but these houses are part of where that CanadInns Hotel/parking garage was to go.

So.. since that was approved 4 years ago. How long is a project shelved as approved before it needs to get approval again? Is there a time limit? Do these awesome houses just sit there being maintained by CanadInns with nothing going on?

Can the city act on issues like this? Should they?

Same with some houses on Kenaston. Political inertia.

no no.. houses on kenaston are essentially tied up right now

these are just sitting there.. an approved development never went forward. Question is... how long is it approved for? Forever?

This seems to happen all the time, look at the Avenue building, Met Theater, old Mother Tuckers building etc.

I know something was supposed to be happening with the Avenue Building but all I see is a protected sidewalk.

Let's not forget the project by the Manitoba club either

There are many projects that SPEED through the construction process as well. This is not a big deal in the grander scheme of things.

What is the recourse?

project must be started in X amount of time and completed in Y days, or it becomes subject to further scrutiny?

I know for the hotel one, its most likely the downturn in economy... but...still now we have 5 (6)? houses sitting there. in a nice enough area, that dont even need redevelopment but could be used or even knocked down for some good infill instead of sitting there vacant, doing nothing for the area.
