Anyone have any methods of finding missing people that might prove useful (and be cheap)?

I'm trying to find a relative who has seemingly vanished.

I've tried every free search method that I'm aware of, and am looking for options I might not have thought about.

I've also tried some online "services" which cost a nominal fee, but they have provided me with little more information than I already have.

My thought of inexpensive has little do with desire, and entirely to do with lack of finances available. If I won the lottery, I'd probably spend quite a bit on this search, but it's not something I'm ready to go in debt for...yet.

If someone has some suggestions, I'd appreciate hearing them.

Thanks.

Have you dug around the internet for newspaper articles etc. that may have involved this person? I recently had to hunt someone down who wasn't on Facebook etc., and didn't really have internet access. Also had a hideously common name. After innumerable searches with all sorts of data, I was able to determine that this person was, in fact, incarcerated in Saskatchewan after trying to kill a cop. The data came from a transcription of a radio news report several months earlier in a town in Northern Alberta.

I've also located a few hard to find people via Facebook, but not through their own public accounts, but rather via Friend lists of mutual acquaintances.

Good luck in your search - I hope you find out what you need to know.

YOu could use facebook and other online means to contact other people who may know where the person is - say, a co-worker or classmate (present or past).

How old are they?
Where did they live, City and address? How long ago?
Is this Winnipeg? I would go to that address and try the neighbours.
I think the Red ross used to look for people as a service?

Do you have the persons last known place of employment? Or the last known address? Talking to a neighbour or a co-worker may help.
