I noted there was a new FOOD TV program dedicated to celebrities describing their most favourite dish. That got me a'thinkin'. I have many, many, many fav's - but struggled to describe the one dish to die for.

What is yours? It could be something your baba use to make when you were a kid. Or something your wife/husband prepares. Maybe your most fav is found at that exotic locale you visited 20 years ago. Or maybe a local restaurant.

Shark steaks from a shark that we had just caught.....roasted the steaks in a sand bbq pit with some tomatoes and garlic, chopped coconuts down so we could make cocos locos.....Water Caye, Honduras, 1994

that is way to hard to tell.

sometimes its not even the food that actually makes it good food, its the memory that is associated with it.

like eating a soft ice cream from BJs trading post in Wanless when visiting my grandma.
My grandma's fresh home baked bread.. even when she switched to buying frozen dough and cooking it, it was still the best
My wife's strawberry jam/syrup she made last year
the steak I had last week
The first time I ever had a taco time taco
My wife's pizza crust.
this chili I made this one time when it was just me and my dad at home.
my mom's soups
my soups

I agree! The people/environment around you can make a mediocre meal, one of the best you ever had.

The peach upside down cake my Nan use to make. I have tried to make it but it just doesn't taste the same.

Wicaninnish Inn, Tofino, 2008. Truffle gnocchi, smothered in local chantrelles, portabello, leeks and a pecorino cheese sauce. Toes curled, eyes rolled back.

Everything I ever ate at Hayne's Chicken Shack. I miss that place, Percy was a good friend of my grandfather's and we went there at least 2x a month.
